Infinite Plane?
« on: November 04, 2009, 06:43:31 AM »
So the FErs that beleive in the infinite plain theory.

Does this mean, that if I hold a piece of string and theoretically walked from one point of the earth in a straight line to come back to the point I was at the in the first place, there would be no string there because the earth goes on forever?

If you walked in a perfectly straight line you would never return to your original position

Some believe the earth ends with the ice wall being the edge. Others believe the Ice wall extends infinitely. Either way The sea ends at the Ice wall. Yes, if you traveled in a perfectly straight line on a FE you would never come to an identical point you have already passed

so what about planes? have planes ever gone over the ice wall? or does the government tell them they aren't allowed to? (I'm not trying to deliver a low blow here, I'm just curious as to your theories)

No the weather conditions are to harsh or if you believe there are ice wall guards they might shoot them down. To prove it wrong you would need to find proof of someone flying over antarctica in a straight line.(I'm a RE'er btw)

well I have a friend that's going to study aeronomical science... or something with a name like that. Apparently he'll learn to fly a plane as part of the course.... I'll try and get proof of him doing exactly this :P

This has been done more than once. Admiral Byrd was the first. He did not disappear over the edge never to be seen again.
Gayer doesn't live in an atmosphere of vaporised mustard like you appear to, based on your latest photo.

I wasn't saying it hadn't been done. I was only giving an example of a reason why a person could not fly over the "ice wall"

Most that have claimed to have down it have simply sliced through a peninsula of the rim.
If you can't argu!e both sie?s, you understand neither

And your evidence for this is what? (Simply saying "it must be what happened because to fly across Antarctica is impossible" is NOT evidence, nor is it scientific as it uses an immutable constant that cannot be verified as such).

Almost every path documented that flies through the antarctic takes a ismilar path and all of them cut around a peninsula even given a round earth.

One can see this from Byrds expeditions simply by looking at the map of his movements.  One can see this via National Air and Space Museum SI map
