A Flat Earth? Really?
« on: September 17, 2009, 05:13:01 PM »
Why are we the exception in the universe? Why is every other planet round except for us?

It's like saying everyone is ugly except for me.

Is ignorance the true meaning behind the belief of a flat earth? Or is there scientific evidence that proves the earth is flat?

Please. Why do people still believe there is a flat earth when we've sent rockets into space? Satellites have taken pictures that explain a round earth.

What is earth then?
And why wouldn't ignorance prove that the flat earth theory is wrong when we've already been in space?

What is earth then?

More or less a disc. I recommend you read the FAQ; it has a general map of what the earth may be.

It is ignorance that believes we've already been in space.

It's ignorant to believe we've been in space? Is that so? What about NASA? The Apollo missions and the space shuttle missions that occur? Astronauts and Cosmonauts? The billions of dollars the US government has put into space missions?

Or is it all just a giant conspiracy theory?

Maybe YOU'RE the conspiracy. Ever think about that?

I still don't understand why the earth is a random disc and everything else in the universe is round.

Explain.

Did I just say earth was a planet? No. I asked why is the earth a disc. What makes us so special to be a disc compared to everything else in the universe?

Asteroids, meteors, galaxies I know. According to you, what is not a sphere other than our "disc" that has a magical ice wall the sun can't seem to melt.

I never said they were spheres. I was agreeing to the fact that not everything in our universe is a sphere.

The North Pole faces away from the sun. The South Pole does not melt because it ISN'T ice. It's solid land.

The south pole in RET is solid land?

In FET the north pole also gets little sunlight, because it's right off to the edge of the sun's rays.

Antarctica is land covered by snow. It's frozen soil.

North pole? How do you have a north pole on a disc?

I'd assume that's a top view correct?

I'd also assume that's ice circling the edge of the flat earth right?

The sun's rays bend upwards in a parabolic arc. When the sun moves farther away the arc will cause the sun to appear lower in the sky. I found these answers by using the forum's search function. Next time use it yourself please.

Quote from: Wikipedia
A planet (from Greek πλανήτης, a derivative of the word πλάνης meaning "moving"), is a celestial body orbiting a star or stellar remnant that is massive enough to be rounded by its own gravity, is not massive enough to cause thermonuclear fusion, and has cleared its neighbouring region of planetesimals.[a][1][2]

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are all planets. If a rock is massive enough, it will become round under its own gravity. Many of the planets are less massive than the earth, and they are still round. (in FET, maybe ALL the planets are less massive than the earth) Therefore, the earth should have enough mass to be rounded by its own gravity. So it is a planet, and it is also round.

...unless the earth is made of some exotic matter which doesn't have gravity. So what separates the matter making up the planets and the matter making up the earth? Because there's some really good evidence everywhere that gravity exists here.
