Shadow Object or Weather System?
« on: August 09, 2009, 04:56:59 PM »
What are thoughts on the possibility of the shadow object actually just being a regular weather system that periodically covers the surface of the moon - or some other naturally occurring phase?  Perhaps something that would temporarily affect the Shine.

(I know I've brought it up before but this was a while ago and I wanted to see if anything new has come up)

are we talking of solar or lunar eclipses or both?

whoops, missed that in you're first post, sorry.

the only thing that strikes me atm is the fact that it only covers the moon if it's full moon. it might be there all the time or randomly pop up but it's only visible at full moon.

Oh I see, thats an interesting idea - I was assuming the dark portion was the weather system, but if its luminescent it could be the light portion.

Either way, its visible at any time the moon is.

Its cyclical, so I wouldn't say "randomly pops up" either.

Personally, I would think it rather unlikely.  Weather patterns and similar natural phenomena usually contain a nominal randomness in their occurrences that are not observed with the phases of the moon.

Perhaps due to the make up of the moons atmo. ON the otherhand, yeah I agree.

I'm more inclined to think that 'the Shine' being affected is due to the massice metallic disc becoming tarnished. As soon as they realise it has tarnished the people who were on the massice metallic disc when it was thrust up into it's position and held there by Photoelectric Suspension get out their dusters and clean it off.

What could possibly account for the fact that the edge of the shadow as it moves across the face of the moon is so perfectly rigid and circular?  What conceivable atmospheric phenomenon such a weather system could act like that?

and it would need to take into account that it would have to look different and move faster in the cases we call lunar eclipses compared to the phases

I'd say that any weather system is too random/unstable to be so regular for such a long period. Also, I don't know the fe position on spectroscopy but if it's accepted, then weather would be unlikely due to lack of atmosphere. And what weather could form such a solid (and even, and extremely circular) shadow?
Just noticed my name is actually pretty insulting. Apologies.

A perfectly round weather system? I'm pretty well convinced of the existence of the Antimoon. It's an established fact dating as far back as Rowbotham, probably even further.

If there is any sort of weather system or physical object blocking the view of the surface then how does this account for high edges of craters and mountains being visibly illuminated beyond the terminator?

I think you're stretching it a bit with the word 'fact' here James.

Physics.

If the weather system is undetectable it is no different than the shadow object.

How is it not detectable?

One can clearly detect it with just ones own eyes!

Perhaps you could clarify what you meant?

Obviously would only be detectable during certain times. Perhaps it rages on the dark side of the moon and comes over to the other side occasionally (lunar eclipse ?)

It actually is detectable since it is radioactive.   In retrospect, I don't think this is the shadow object.  However, it does cause lunar phases.  It comes from gasses from inside the moon that are released due to radioactive decay and also from sputtering.  Even NASA agrees that this is detectable.

As per its defined shape, a weather system could be as such for many reason.  Look at a tornados et al.  From above they certainly seem circular.  In a low atmo environment it would be more likely to gather up and travel periodically, especially given sufficient time.

I've never been to Los Angeles, therefore how can I know it exists?
