Other Planets
« on: July 17, 2009, 03:12:31 PM »
Hello, this is my first post on the site.  Yes, I am a skeptic of the flat-eart theory, but I just have some questions and please know this is asked not in order to start a debate but out of pure curiousity: What do you (Flat-Earthers) believe about other planets in the Solar System?

Thanks,
Passonthepie

That there are other planets in the solar system...

They have this stupid idea that only the earth is flat because it's the special case aka god did it. Anybody who doesn't have this belief cannot be a true flat earther and they are just trolling you

To my knowledge, none of the real FE'ers on this site base their beliefs on religion. I certainly don't- I am an atheist.

To be specific, the "other planets" are the planets of the solar system. The earth is not a member of the solar system. The heavens are arranged much like they would be found in the Tychonic system developed by leading empiricist Tycho Brahe.

Why is the Earth, which (in the FE model) is orbited by a Sun, not part of the Solar system?

Solar system: the sun with the celestial bodies that revolve around it

The earth does not revolve around the sun, so it is not part of that system.

so if the other planets are part of the solar system which revolve around the sun, which earth doesnt do, which sun are they revolving around to make them part of a solar system? it surely cant be ours seeing it is only 3000miles away from us

well how big exactly do you suppose the other planets are?
they musnt be very large if you think they could be revolving around a sun just 3000miles away yet they look no larger then stars

Yet there are simple ways to determine the distance to planets.

Unfortunately the distances involved are far greater than 3000 miles. :(

wow it even reads it for you, thats handy

So if I assume the earth is round and moving around the sun, I can deduce the distance of the planets based on that assumption. Excellent.

The Earth is not like other planets you are meaning to say?

I got an answer from asking "Why if the sun is a spherical shape, not Earth?" as "Earth is not the sun."

Pathetic unjustified answers from people who have disowned themselves from society to try and lead and brainwash others to believe otherwise the truth.

No, I really meant the earth is not other planets, meaning it doesn't have to conform to the same standards.

QED, the earth is unique.

QED, the earth is unique.

It could be argued that Mercury is unique, and Venus. Mars is quite special as well and let's face it there aren't too many Jupiters around.

Of course it's unique. so is Saturn . . .

Hmm...  I always though that QED goes after a proof and i.e. goes before a statement.  Oh well.
