a few questions from a non believer.
« on: May 24, 2009, 07:12:37 PM »
what is causing the sun and moon to move in circles above the earth if it isnt gravity?
did they just choose to start moving?
(this was no in the faq. if i missed it please post the part of the faq it's in. dont just tell me to look at it again)

can anyone on this site prove beyond reasonable doubt that the earth is flat?

if not, then why even bother with all of this?

Honestly? Because it's funny. Most of the FES members like playing Devil's Advocate, and arguing a topic that most would consider ridiculous can be very good for improving debate and logic skills. Very few of the FES's members actually think the earth is flat. The main purpose is trolling all the butthurt noobs that come demanding explanations.

A perfect example of the generic Angry Noob, as mentioned in my previous post.

i can see that. but there are definitely a few people that actually believe the earth is flat. and from those people i would really like them to answer the first question.

i can see that. but there are definitely a few people that actually believe the earth is round. and from those people i would really like them to answer the first question.
lolwut

Also, good luck finding those people. I don't think we have anyone on FES who actually believes the Earth is round. The only people who actually think the earth is flat are hardcore Christian fundies.

Look, you can't prove anything is what it is with out a doubt. Not even a round earth with photographs of a round earth. Most of the board is not concerned with the question is the world flat but what does it mean for the world to be flat. Understand?

Both  :)

Job 26:10 (New King James Version)

10 He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters,
At the boundary of light and darkness. (in the hebrew they had no word for sphere)

isaiah 40:22
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.

Literal.

And in revelation

Revelation 19:15
Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.

this could be either metaphorical or literal .

The Bible is full of mystery to which we will NEVER learn the extents of what the Bible has to offer us.

I don't believe that the Earth is flat, if that's what you mean.

answer my first question please

The best answer I have is that it is uncertain. Many state that it is also Dark Energy that accelerates the plane of earth. I however think we need to re-think what the sun is. It could be something else besides something physical. It could just be a ball of energy and defies anything of what we know in the world. Yet these are just wonderings and not a complete answer.

This leads back to what I said earlier:
Look, you can't prove anything is what it is with out a doubt. Not even a round earth with photographs of a round earth. Most of the board is not concerned with the question is the world flat but what does it mean for the world to be flat. Understand?
