With regard to the image posted:

I'm afraid that's not curvature, at least, not the kind you're looking for. The bump on the left hand side of the wing is a hill, since the bump on the right hand side of the wing doesn't match up with it and form one larger curve, as might be expected if the Earth were, as you claim, a giant ball.

Umm no it would be that way if it was a large ball. But the fact is, that it is an ULTRA-GIANT ball. I don't think you have any idea how large the "ball" is. That is also the reason why the earth looks flat for 10+ miles.

Oh, so you admit that the image is completely inadmissable as evidence. That's fine by me.

That picture is not the best, but it wasn't me that posted it. So you agree you attacked the picture on a wrong assumption?

Not at all. It doesn't matter who posted the picture, what I said about it is precisely true. The bump on the left is a hill.

That picture was obviously taken from a commercial aircraft, which would not have been high enough for a window picture to show the curvature of the Earth. I read in the FAQ that no Flat-Earth Theorist has been able to reach altitudes to confirm or deny NASA's evidence of earth-roundedness. Might I suggest Hot Air balloons. It was the vehicle of choice for the first ventures to the uppermost levels of our atmosphere, and technically space. It's also fairly easily available to anyone with a moderate amount of cash.

The curvature comes from the wide angle lens or barrel roll of the camera, not the earth.

Wrong Mig.  That was a Mig-29.  You want to fly in a Mig-25 or Mig-31 for the 20km+ high flights.

Thanks for that photo Tom, it actually proves our point.  Look at the lines directly beneath the curved portion of the picture... they are straight.  Look at the curvature of all of the top of the metal panel which you are indicating... it is clearly physically curved outwards.  You are pointing at a physically curved surface.  That camera is not distorting anything.  Furthermore, look at all of the other lines in that picture besides the curvature of the mid/upper panels... they are all straight.  When looking at the curvature of the Earth visible in the video, the curvature is much greater than any other detectable curvature.

I think we finally have proof that the Earth is round, folks.

Follow-up:

Curved portion circled, straight lines indicated with arrows.  Shows that straight lines are not distorted over the whole field of view of the camera; there is no single area where distortion is greatest or even pronounced at all.

Line shows that there is in fact a distinct curvature.

What say you?

I must say, looking at the photo, that the clouds in the centre of the picture are at a higher altitude than the clouds to the edges. This could be a weather front passing through.

At that distance, simple tropospheric weather could not have an effect on perceived horizon.  Remember that at that altitude, there is extremely limited light attenuation due to the small air density.  The visible distance is extremely long.

What is your point? Just because someone has taken a picture of the horizon with a "fishbowl" lense doesnt mean that all the pictures taken of the horizon are taken with one. Get real. :/

Round Earthers should clear any obstructions, then flat Earthers would have no excuse not to go.

Will they. I seriously doubt it, there would then be too much chance of the Earth being proved flat.

but why should we? you're the ones who want everyone to believe your theory. Maybe if your theory had as much evidence as ours maybe somebody would believe you. OK if you don't want to sail to the ice wall use a telescope and look. If the Earth is flat you should be able to see it with a telescope

"so you dont even want to prove conclusively that your societies theory is correct?"

Ofcouse they don't.
If they tried they would be proven wrong beyong a shadow of a doubt.
Just like they've already been proven wrong beyong a shadow of a doubt by just about anyone they argue with, the only change would be that they themselves would get bitchslapped by the truth and finally see that the earth is in fact round, though I think they'd come up with one or another excuse regardless.
I mean, the earth has already been proven to be round.
People have gone into outer space, seen it, taken pics/recorded vids of it, thus it is undeniable.
The only way for the FES to hang on to their delusion is to deny the facts and evidence at any cost and never actually search for this supposed "Icewall" or have every willing FES member donate a considerable ammount of money for a quick trip into outer space (VERY expensive, I know).
It's total unwillingness to face facts even when they realize they've been proven wrong -or- unwillingness to actually put some REAL effort into proving their crackpot theories.
We RE-ers have nothing to prove, everything about the round earth has been proven already to all except those blinded by their own delusions.
The FE-ers have EVERYTHING to prove since the best they can do, and will ever do, is make shit up, deny completely undeniable evidence, make shit up to counter the evidence, we present even more undeniable evidence, they make shit up yet again.
It's a vicious circle that will never end.
If they had enough common sense to be argued with in the first place, they wouldn't believe in a flat earth.

This just in!(while I was typing):

Such is the nature of Delusional Disorder...

Delusional Disorder

1. It is a primary disorder.
2. It is a stable disorder characterized by the presence of delusions to which the patient clings with extraordinary tenacity.
3. The illness is chronic and frequently lifelong.
4. The delusions are logically constructed and internally consistent.
5. The delusions do not interfere with general logical reasoning (although within the delusional system the logic is perverted) and there is usually no general disturbance of behavior. If disturbed behavior does occur, it is directly related to the delusional beliefs.
6. The individual experiences a heightened sense of self-reference. Events which, to others, are nonsignificant are of enormous significance to him or her, and the atmosphere surrounding the delusions is highly charged.

We should rename them the DDS (Delusional Disorder Society).

Is anyone claiming it is proof?

It is from a website that claims you can see the curvature of the Earth. Since this picture is posted there, their credibility is shattered. This just goes to show that pictures are not valid evidence.
