earthquakes
« on: May 14, 2009, 07:59:43 PM »
how do earth quakes work? - shifting plate tectonics, in other words, the earth is devided into peaces held together by gravity, this couldn't work if the earth was flat, and had no gravity, it would fall apart, and one earthquake would crumble the earth

Do you see that big blue bar with "THE FLAT EARTH SOCIETY" written across it?  Now just below that is a smaller black bar with some white words written on it.  See the one that says "Search" with a small arrow pointing down?  Click that and then in the small white box that shows up type the word "earthquake" (without the quotation marks)  and then do some fucking lurking!!

If you can't find an answer in all of those topics that came up, then you will never find one.  Have a nice life.

In both models the plates float on a layer of magma.  Why do you feel earthquakes would have such a destructive power in the FE model?

Regarding earthquakes, the greatest problem FE doesn't address is that of the shadow zone of certain seismic waves. RE predicts the zone and arrival time well. FE must deal with a wave traveling off the edge and then back on to the edge on the opposite side of the FE. Needless to say, no reasonable person would accept the FE explanation.

NOW IF THE EARTHQUAKE PUNCTURED THE ICE WALL WOULDNT THE WATER DRIP OR A LOT OF IT INTO THE W.E BELOW THE EARTH?

Roundy, the Zetetic Method frowns upon making up FE theory as you go along.  If you don't know something, it's okay to either say "I don't know because I'm an idiot" or to make up a silly, inane answer.

In this case, however, neither is necessary because I have already provided the correct answer.

Grow up and start learning the definitions of terms like "spam" before you throw them around.

I accused you of not knowing the answer and instead making one up.  My post, in fact, was entirely correct, including both in my allegation that you made your answer up as well as in its articulation of Zetetic Method.  Show me anywhere in actual FE theory that states that the magma layer floats upon another rock layer, and I'll gladly back off.

Or you can just keep huffing and puffing about your fearsome moderator powers.

Nice try, but I was referring to this one that you alluded to in the quoted post:

The skeletons of people who dared to call out NASA.

Yes, I'm sure you were 100% serious about this.  ::)

Also, while speculation is indeed not terribly zetetic, it's something we engage in profusely on these forums.  We're forced into that position by people asking questions like "What's the magma floating on?"  The most obvious answer, and one I'm pretty sure is supported by geological evidence, is that there's solid rock below the layer of magma.  There's no reason to think there's nothing under the magma so it was a rather superfluous question in the first place.

The magma would melt the rock that it was on top of. The only reason the magma of our earth stays put is because of the immense pressure due to the spherical shape of the Earth. Basic physics FTW.
