simply saying "The earth is powered by dark energy" is hardly an argument worth refuting, someone please elaborate on this dark energy theory, so it can be properly debated.

RE scientists believe that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate, and that this is due to the presence of dark matter and/or dark energy.  The presence of dark energy creates a negative pressure which essentially acts in the opposite way that gravity acts.  See the Wikipedia article for more information.

ok but that doesn't exactly explain why it's making the earth move upwards. I'm familar with Dark Energy, but I'm asking how it plays a role in the earth moving (i.e. is there a mass of it under the earth or something of that sort)

It is more of a phenomenon that is explained by something which could possibly be related.  If you look at it from a FE point of view, you'd think "Well what keeps our flat earth accelerating?", look up dark energy, and possibly come to the conclusion that it must be dark energy.

that makes sense (after all it is a logical conclusion for said phenomenon), but admittedly this theory could use some development to explain some specifics..

The thing is, Desu, this is also a belief.  FE'ers believes the Earth is flat, "so therefore this must happen, this must work like this, hmm this doesn't explain this entirely so how about this".  One reason for this forum is for FE'ers alike to come and try to help fill in the gaps of the theory by hypothesizing, sharing their knowledge of physics and other sciences, etc.  This, lately, hasn't been the case...

Its much harder to look at the FE proposition without thinking about it from a neutral point of view (as in not taking much information for granted) which is why you'll find many people "defending" themselves even if they aren't being attacked.  The theory simply looks offensive to their beliefs (and they ARE beliefs) because of how long they have lived with the knowledge that the Earth is round without ever questioning it.  It seems like a constant to some; something unquestionable.

I think I have a better understanding of where you're coming from, and that's more or less what I was suggesting by saying you should develop it.

I simply watch trends in the "posting habits" of alot of members and come to these conclusions.  The mind interests me more than the information it is presented.

To be honest, I'm not the right person to be proposing the functions of things like dark energy.
