If the earth was truely flat, than somebody standing on a tall mountain theoretically should be able to see for hundred of miles on a clear day, right?

Ok then why if a ship is sailing away does it appear to gradually sink into the water as it gets closer to the horizen?

I was saying that the FE theory is wrong because if you watched a boat sail away from you it would gradually dissapear (hull first) and appear to be sinking until it is out of sight. THis been due to the curvature of the earth.
