Conspiracy about NASA?
« on: March 10, 2009, 03:39:26 PM »
So, FE people believe that NASA is not real, right? If that's true, how come MILLIONS of people (Including myself) have seen space shuttle launches? How come we've seen people go into rockets, stay in space for a while, then go back down? How come we see videos of people in space, in 0 gravity areas? I don't get how NASA can build billion dollar rockets, send them into space, spend billions of more dollars making "fake" photos and stuff of the earth, yet still have enough money to make a profit.

I'm not saying that a FE does or doesn't exist, but the conspiracy theory is shit.

Also, when looking at this map:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/79/Flat_earth.jpg

How come there have been flights that have traveled over Antartica? If the FE was real, after traveling over antartica, how come we don't run into a wall of ice?

I'm not an idiot, I read through the whole FAQ at least 3 times now. All I can see is how all these rockets are faked, yet people see rockets go up to space every month or so. So don't think I'm just another noob that can be owned with a one-liner, idiot.

The FAQ is not the end of the story though.  Have you read through other threads on these subjects, because I assure you there are many.

Maybe the FAQ should be expanded, in that case. ^_^ If the rocket theory is one that gets brandied about a lot, it seems to be something that's worthy of being added in, if only to prevent additional misunderstandings like this. Given the most common command I've seen has been 'Read the FAQ,' the document itself seems to have some occasional inconsistencies and lacking sections.
"Tell me about this new form of math you've invented."
"Well, I start with the answer, and then find an equation that fits it. That way, I'm always right!"
"..."
"Impressed by my genius?"
"You've certainly put the 'dumb' in 'dumbfounded'..."

There is a wiki being prepared, which I hope will be able to draw all the many threads together and illustrate what won't be a unified theory, but will at least be a collation of what theories are extant.  The FAQ and the search functions are imperfect, I know I've tried to find stuff and just given up in frustration, but if the wiki does what it's supposed to then I'm sure our lives will be a lot easier by enabling those new to the site to be able to do some in-depth research before asking a question that has been asked many times before.

There is a wiki being prepared...

I'm not holding my breath.  It tooks months of even FE'ers whining before the FAQ finally got updated.  I don't see the wiki going live any time soon.

Besides, perhaps FET is a conspiracy too.

We live in hope then.

Not only that but... You should read some of the internal tirades over trivial differences. FEers can't agree on existence of the Ice Wall, the size of the RE, the distance to the Sun, and a host of other simple 'facts". They will never get a decent wiki at this rate. Now, if they'd adopt the scientific method. Now if they accept the evidence of their own eyes. (I love how Tom Bishop fibs about even sunsets.)

Should I be as amused as I am about the fact that there's going to be Discworld and Terry Pratchett articles?
