Hockey players are much tougher thatn football players, there is a whole market for equipment to hide injuries like boken hands/feet/ribs ect because not only will the hockey players still play with those injuries the other players will go after those injuries if they know they exist. SO yeah I think it takes a tough guy to gou out and play a vary physical game while they are hurt but I think it takes an even tougher guy to do that knowing that he is a target if the other team finds out he is hurt. Plus in football you get in trouble for pushing too hard in hockey you can punch a guy in the face and many times walk away with a warning

Here's the bottom line...

How many people have died playing hockey?  Not counting the ones that broke through the ice on pick up games.
How many people have died playing American Football?

Look it up.  I think you'll find that football is five times as dangerous as hockey.
Or natural selection is just at work killing off the stupid and the weak.

In that case, include the idiots that went through the ice.  Hockey is far more dangerous then.  Football players are at least smart enough to stay on something solid.

And how many people have died playing baseball? if we go by that then baseball is the most dangerous sport we have, but if you go by the violence allowed in the game then hockey is the most violent, in football if 2 guys talk trash to eachother they get penalized yet at a hockey game I have seen an all out brawl that took the refs 5 minutes to break up without a single penalty being called, and if you want to fight another player it is allowed as long as the other guy is willing and they let you fight until you hit the ground or it gets boring then you go sit down for 5 minutes and come back into the game. Hell most of the teams use fighting as a tactic to inspire the rest of their team

When was the last time a football player had his neck cut open by another player? And at least hockey allows people to celebrate after scoring.

Not better, toughest.

Neither of them hold a candle to real sports like Hurling.

Nope, not at all. I love violent sports, that is why I stopped watching nascar when they added all of those safety features to make the cars safer.

I'm sure there are a bunch more time of hockey and football, and even one soccer player breaking their necks, but did you read the link of mine. It wasn't the neck breaking, it was the fact that the guy grabbed the other player, punched him, and proceeded to do so, while breaking his neck along the way.

And?  That's just a fight.  Anyone can get killed in a fight.  Theoretically, my martial art classes teach me to do that to people.

The two I posted, were actually playing their game.  Not brawling as a side line.

So everyone else missed the hockey rules change? They started enforcing penalties more heavily to discourage fights.

Again, dying in a fight is not the game's fault.  You can do that arguing in a bar, which could make pool the most dangerous game.

How many people have died playing the game... not stopping to fight with another player.

It's a penalty because they lose the man... since they play their first string people first, they're playing a second string vs the other team's first string.  That is a penalty.
