It can be guided in any number of ways.  GPS only requires the position of the transmitter to be known.

Thats a hell of alot of stratellites - i supposed they were mass produced.

I did the footbal experiment - with a Wilson - and NFL version of the pigskin using Tai Lungs method... I conclude that indeed - the football is also flat. 0cm everywhere I measured.

I did the experiment multiple times - and I even tried it on a cantelope.

That's funny because I did the football experiment and got the ball being 7.5cm at one end 15cm in the middle and 7.5cm on the other end. Remember the experiment is to have the ruler perpendicular to the ground.

Tai Lung. Just out of curiosity, can you let me know (privately if you like) what results you achieved a school, whether you went to University, did post graduate studies and where you now work and in what capacity you operate.

I ask as two of my friends work with special needs (one with adults with learning difficulties, the other works with childern suffering from Downs syndrome) and sometimes, especially with the adults, it's quite difficult as they can read/write and appear a little slow but you'd say they are 70:30 in favour of being normal. They can't, however, reason and question topics which have an element of complexity. Completely throws them. Which is quite sad.

I've got a sneaky suspicion you fall into that camp and I'm sorry if this is the case. Men are not born equal, be it in mind or body. I would hate to be so restricted mentally, though, as to not see the real beauty of the world around us and how much we, as human beings, have discovered.

It's amazing that you think there's any use in asking somebody what results they got in school and whether they went the university, et al.

If I post up credentials that demonstrate an ability to handle complex topics I could easily be lying so it demonstrates... nothing (unless you consider the ability to lie being able handle a complex topic). If I don't post up the credentials it demonstrates... nothing (feel free to disagree on this point).

Meanwhile, congratulations on patronizing people with special needs - I'm so glad you're such a Good person that you can feel sorry for them.

Of course what this all boils down to you being just another REer who can't stomach the idea that they're wrong so attempts to belittle FEer intelligence. In other words: another FE victory.

Shall we move on to the other proofs? If so, please pick one of the many, many proofs from the following list:
  • Plumb-bobs always point down... even in Australia.
  • Bunjee jumping into space is not possible on a round earth.

Those are just scientific proofs, don't even get me started on the terrible moral implications of RET.

Yes! Not to mention that orbs have been trying to tell people the earth is flat by appearing in people's photographs (of course the majority of people are blind to this real message and just assume they're dust, ghosts or emoticons).

Before I begin to respond to this shower of an argument I'd like to know two things:

1) Do you have an elementary understanding of physics?
2) Did you understand 1.

If you are happy with this then we'll continue...

Why do you mention Australia? Is it because "it is upside down" :) It is all relative. To them we are upside down. There is no up/down/left/right in space, for all space, just the instantaneous point definition reference.

I've no idea what the second point means but assume you think Australians, because they are upside down, would bungee jump into space.

Gravity?

Ever heard of that force. We are still some way from fully understanding it. Feynman postulated it living in one of the 6 (or 9) other dimensions, having immense power, but only displaying a fraction of this in our own dimensional space.

Do you believe God made the earth flat?

We are not the centre of the Universe and to think so is arrogant (stupidity here is taken for granted).

At a guess I'd say you were an average student at school (you are able to write effectively but have no real power in your words). I've no idea what you do for a living. Maybe you work for NASA.

Excellent, so the ruler experiment is going into the bag of FE victories.

Before I begin to respond to this shower of an argument I'd like to know two things:

1) Do you have an elementary understanding of physics?
2) Did you understand 1.

If you are happy with this then we'll continue...

I understand most of newtonian physics, a lot of aspects from relativity, not a great deal about quantum mechanics, and I've only ever read snippets about string theory and couldn't fairly say if any of those snippets accurately reflect string theory.

Why do you mention Australia? Is it because "it is upside down" :) It is all relative. To them we are upside down. There is no up/down/left/right in space, for all space, just the instantaneous point definition reference.

Nonsense! Up is up and down is down - even a 6 year old can understand that.

I've no idea what the second point means but assume you think Australians, because they are upside down, would bungee jump into space.

I mean should you be able to bunjee jump into space in RET? My understanding of RET is that you shouldn't be able to. As I have I personally know that RET is incorrect and unless you can come up with an explanation of how I could've bunjee jumped into space in RET then you've no chance of convincing me that RET could even possibly be correct.

Gravity?

Ever heard of that force. We are still some way from fully understanding it. Feynman postulated it living in one of the 6 (or 9) other dimensions, having immense power, but only displaying a fraction of this in our own dimensional space.

That's nice - completely irrelevant but nice.

Do you believe God made the earth flat?

I have no idea of how the earth came into existance, what causes its acceleration and numerous other thing. I don't think that saying "god did it" explains anything though. Personally, I don't believe in the supernatural (gods, ghosts, spirits, TheEngineer, etc.) but if you're that way inclined good for you.

We are not the centre of the Universe and to think so is arrogant (stupidity here is taken for granted).

That's nice - it reminds me of people claiming I'm arrogant because I don't believe in God. I don't really think either makes me arrogant but if you want add "arrogant" to the list of things you've called me go ahead.

At a guess I'd say you were an average student at school (you are able to write effectively but have no real power in your words). I've no idea what you do for a living. Maybe you work for NASA.

I was always below average in my class. No doubt you'll make an issue out of this as well as the fact that I was home-schooled but I fully support my parents' decision on this. As their only child they were able to focus their entire attention on my home schooling (both worked as maintainence collectors). At the moment I working on making a hgih powered laser to shoot down the sun, apart from that I sell sperm for money.

You sure you were not schooled by wolves?

Also, if you understand a lot of aspects from relativity then the up/down argument you made is textbook. I did laugh when I read that. Relativity...The clue is in the name...But don't worry, you crack on reading about String theory. Have a butchers at Hamiltonian mechanics, dabble in stochastic calculus, gorge yourself on the GUT or maybe just stop beating out to internet pornography.

No, but I was schooled by great apes.

Also, if you understand a lot of aspects from relativity then the up/down argument you made is textbook. I did laugh when I read that. Relativity... The clue is in the name... Okay, I don't see why I have to stop jerking off to internet pornography while I'm learning about stuff, you're starting to sound like my wife. I would switch back to DVDs except it's easier to store on a computer.

In the meantime I'm already reading a book that's helping me to learn string theory, if you have any other suggestions feel free to post them.

You don't believe in God but think the earth is flat. Awesome

I don't see how the two are connected, I think you'll find there's more round earth theists than there are flat earth theists.

In any case how could I not believe the earth is flat when I've bunjee jumped off the edge of the earth into space? I suggest you head south and find the truth for yourself - it's a lot of fun.

WardoggKC130FE, head south and eventually you'll hit the Ice Wall where they've set up a bunjee jumping platform where you can bunjee jump into space. Here's an example of the suit you get to wear:

I didn't see any Ice Guards down there though. :(

If you are interested in Physics and string theory, I would suggest Brian Greene.  He wrote, The Elegant Universe, and Fabric of the Cosmos.  I have both and they are excellent reads.  You will have to open up and accept Gravity as one of the major forces governing our universe, albeit the weakest of them all.  Just some thoughts though.  Both books are worth their weight in gold.

It's a lot of fun, especially as you don't have to worry about hitting anything (they've built the platform quite a fair bit out from the wall). The only bummer is you have to be pulled back up to the platform (but I heard from one of my mates that they've recently installed an electric winch to do this).

that suit doesnt look safe enough or warm enough to be bungee jumping off an ice wall.

I would say that you botched your own testing in measuring the height of the ground from the ground, since apparantly thats the way that you reproduced the height of the footbal to the ground.  But I dont think thats it - its that the ruler you were using was just a bad ruler - you need to get a new ruler.  and a cantelope.

I bet the Ice wall bungee has a great snow-cone stand.

Jambon, I've joined this forum specially to try and save your sanity.

Come on man, either these guys are taking the p*ss, or they are so far detached from reality that there is no use in reasoning with them.

Just smile and let them have their harmless delusions. I'm sure they honestly believe what they espouse, despite the massive weight of evidence to the contrary. As someone once said "I used to be paranoid... then they got me!"

Think of the depth and breath that such a conspiracy would have to encompass for FET to be true. Many thousands if not tens of thousands of scienists, technicians over a period of some 50 years and from all over the world would have to be involved. Only the most paraniod amongst us would believe that such a conspiracy could be kept secret over this period of time without some form of proof emerging.

Having decided that the earth is flat and that there is a conspiracy, they then twist, distort and selctively use fragments of science to reinforce the delusion.

The process is similar to that of the more dangerous delusions of biblical theologians who believe that the earth was created in 6 days. They then distort the physical evidence on the earth to fit their own biblically imposed timescale.

Fortunately the FE delusion is unlikely to lead to a religious world war with the Islamic Faith!

Thus ends my first and only contribution to this forum..... I will return to reality!

Tai Lung -
that suit doesnt look safe enough or warm enough to be bungee jumping off an ice wall.

It was quite warm and as I'm still alive it mut have been safe enough.

I would say that you botched your own testing in measuring the height of the ground from the ground, since apparantly thats the way that you reproduced the height of the footbal to the ground.  But I dont think thats it - its that the ruler you were using was just a bad ruler - you need to get a new ruler.  and a cantelope.

No, everything was measured correctly.

I bet the Ice wall bungee has a great snow-cone stand.

Go down and find out for yourself - I recommend the lime flavour.

Tai. That sounds awesome. You must have some pretty amazing photos of your big fun day out on the Ice shelf.

Unfortunately I dropped my camera when I jumped. :(

I'll be taking another trip in a little while and I'll take some photos then.

Was it like the Mighty Boosh song "Tundra"?

I don't know, I've never heard of the Mighty Boosh. Are they as good as Britney Spears? She's ace.

Actualy, forget all this FE/RE stuff - I can't believe you are married!!!

With a daughter to boot.

Does your wife believe in the same shit you do?

What shit? That gods and ghosts don't exist? No she doesn't share that belief. However, when it comes to our beliefs about the shape of the earth they are virtually identical - I don't have a problem with her belief in a god or in ghosts but I honestly think I would find it difficult to be with somebody who didn't share my belief (or close to my belief) about the shape of the world.

That's one fucking disfunctional family... :P

We seem to manage okay.
