I have been reading this for a few days now and I eventually came with my own theory about earth flatness.
To all REer, the earth is flat
To all FEer, there is no conspiracy, and anyway the earth is a sphere
Now let me explain.
This theory is still very young (only a few days) and rely on physic concepts that most scientist don't understand and those who do claim to fully understand them are probably crazy, I am crazy. So if you see anything inconsistency in my theory either I made a mistake or there is something I don't know about yet that explain the inconsistency. In either case I will try to solve the inconsistency if you kindly point it out to me.
Let me state some facts that all of you should agree with.
- The world as we see it has 3 physical dimensions and fourth one that we usually call time.
- String theory says that there is a lot more then those 4 dimensions. In fact String theory says that there is 11 dimensions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory
- Space and time can be bent along all these 11 dimensions.
- If you take a careful cut of a cube and look at it in 2 dimensions it will look like a square (actually you don't have to cut it you just have to look at it from the top.
- Doing the same thing to a sphere will give a circle.
- If you take that 2D circle and bring it in a 3D world change the orientation a bit and bring it back in your 2D world you can have a line if you rotated it 90 degrees on the additional axis you had in 3D
Now to the explanation of how the earth is a sphere and flat at the same time.
We now from string theory that we have 11 space time dimensions available most of which we can't see. The earth is a sphere only if you look at it with 4 physical dimensions or carefully placed with 3 physical dimensions. A sphere in a 3D world rotated carefully along a fourth physical axis will become flat. The earth we are on is a sphere if we look at it in 4D but from our 3-dimensional point of view it appear flat. As long as we can't see that fourth dimension the earth might as well be considered as flat as a
Now why there is no conspiracy? If the earth is indeed flat and there is no conspiracy why most people think it is round?
Simple space is being bent. As I said space and time can be bent. Again if you carefully bend a 2D circle (stretching some part and compressing others) it will look like a sphere (completely hollow but a sphere) and you will be able to take a step over the edge of the circle and show up 180 degrees away from where you started.
Again this theory is only starting to form it self in my mind. Right now I can only explain why we see the earth as a sphere when it is in fact as flat as a pizza. We know from space exploration that the moon is a sphere but my guess is that its a other flat disk bent into a sphere.
