i bet you cant do this

http://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-the-Distance-to-the-Horizon

This discribes how to calcuate the distance to the horizon. This proven mathematical formula is impossible on a "flat earth".

there are so many holes on this theo..yea, im not gonna call it a theory. it's a random absurb suggestion. you've done nothing but thrown ridiculous assumtions to attempt to disprove scientific evidence.
our modern society is based on mathematic calculations that are dependant on a round earth. by saying the earth is flat challenges everything we know to be true. how can you even begin to think that the earth is not round. ok, well its is true that is not round. it's more of an ellipsoid (slightly elongated shpere).
Lets look at the rest of the bodies in the universe. you admit that they are spherical. so what makes the earth any different.. oh, and "special" is hardly scientific proof.
so i ask you now. without using the words "conspiricy", "lie", "fake", "optical illusion" or any psynonym there of, please explain to me how the earth could possibly be flat.

Why wouldnt it work on a flat earth? Why do you have to use a RE equation? Sounds like circular reasoning

No.

It only challenges the perception that the earth is round.

The milky way is flat. Why not earth?

the equation wont work on a flat earth because it does work and is base on circumfience. if the earth was flat the everything that is based on physics would not work.. are you guys serious? do i need to spell it out?

I crawled through your two posts Pastafarian, please learn to speak English. Also, your second post merely repeated what your first post said in a condensed, but equally wrong form. Why do you REers just repeat yourselves over and over? It makes you look stupid. And stop making the Church Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster look stupid too, we get enough of that without you making it true in some cases, applicable in all.
No but I'm guess your what? 90? Cause you just so darn mature </sarcasm>

you guys are having fun with this, arent you?

for a man 6 feet tall, its approximately 3.2 miles to the horizon, as you increase in altitude that distance increase proportionatly to the circumference of the earth. if the earth were flat, that distance would not increase.

It would and I do. Learn FET before you disprove what you believe FE to be, that's very easy, but it doesn't work and it makes you look stupid.

wow, all i can say is wow. its like one matrix dodge after another. i ask questions and you answer simply yes or no. if only it were that easy in the real world.

so i ask you, in your world, how do you calculate the distance to the horizon? and what makes it possible for me to see further the more i increase in elevation.

i promise that you can convince me, i will be a true believer.

to be honest at first i thought this was alot loike that flying spegetti monster theory, simply a joke to mock an absurd notion. but i havent seen evidence of that.

BTW, what does my english have to do with anything?

If you cannot communicate an argument reasonably, then the argument becomes moot.  You cannot, so yours does.

An easy, simple and cheap way is to put a big thing somewhere, and walk away until it disappears in the horizon. The distance you walked is the distance to the horizon.

So why does it disappear? Why does it reappear if you increase altitude?

I'm not telling you, I'm already on the verge of carpal tunnel from explaining FE to people who leave in days and forget all about it. Find the answer yourself, it isn't hard.

the problem, is that it explains nothing. you ask questions and give vague answers.. thats not an explanation.

all anyone has asked is an explanation. hell, I'd even settle for a confession that this is a parody like the FSM. ;)

It is like the FSM in that it is real, and there are real believers and those that do it for a laugh. Both we and the FSM do not love these people, but we respect them. Now, if you can't use search (the button next to "help" which I suggest you also find), then you are not fit to debate here.

These "answers" you FErs are throwing around fail to adequately explain simple natural phenomena that the standard model of cosmology explains and predicts.  The fact that you people feel like you can even call yourselves "scientific" without even knowing what the simple, logic driven, pursuit of science is, is disturbing.  You don't get to pick and choose what science you "believe" in just because it agrees/disagrees with what you "believe" in.  Yes and NO are not testable, and observable explanations for your "idea" (no, it's not a scientific theory).

Please explain why an eclipse is elliptical no matter what time of day it occurs.

Please explain why if I change my latitude, I see a different set of stars at night.

Please explain why if I increase my altitude, I can see the horizon grow further and further away from me.

I am familiar with your "theory".  My questions are things that can be EASILY explained using the most basic high school science that don't require that you butcher the living hell out of Special Relativity and Newtonian Physics (both elegant and beautiful insights into our universe's fundamental truths with testable, empirical evidence to back them up.  The challenge isn't on anyone who doesn't "believe" in your "theory" to prove it wrong, it's up to you to subjugate your HYPOTHESIS to objective, scientific scrutiny and show us that it is a testable THEORY.  If any of you had actually done that, you wouldn't be sitting there fuming and seething with hatred for me as you read this.  So please, before the flames, feel free to explain my questions.

well, its on every site under the book.. if the church didnt agree they wouldnt post it.. oh yea,, also try this page http://www.venganza.org/about/the-cause and this one http://www.venganza.org/about/frequently-asked-questions

im just as much a believer in the FSM as Bobby Henderson but i see it for what it is a spoof on the ID.

to be honest, i really would like more background on this whole thing.

This is pathetic, if you are really an FE person, I feel ashamed you are part of the human race anymore. This theory was proven wrong centuries ago, has been over and over again, and to think it's a conspiracy that would serve 0 purpose is insane. Are you telling me that my eyes just can't see anymore at the end of the horizon? Why when i go to the top of a mountain can i see much further away but it still ends at the horizon and when i go lower i can't see as far. Why can't i use a telescope to see all the way across the world, but I can use one to see planets? Grow a brain and use it, are you brain damaged?

Yes, please...rather than say "read the faq" or "yes/no" please explain these questions on the horizon. Don't you want to be taken serious? If you can't have a discussion where you honestly EXPLAIN your reasoning, or lack there of, then maybe this is just a society of people who cannot process complete thoughts ???
