How do you explain the effect of a boat traveling towards the horizon appearing to sink as it reaches the edge instead of simply appearing smaller and smaller. I know of no optical allusion that could cause this, and if there is one please explain it's mechanics to me. It's defiantly not a conspiracy, as this would have to be a giant projected hologram. Which is impossible, go look up how the make holograms. I don't feel like explaining the mechanics. The boats are not actually sinking, because, you know, they actually come back. Please promptly refute my argument oh wise ones.

They say that the effect is caused by atmospheric refraction, and with a telescope powerful enough you could restore the ship. That's what they say.

Atmospheric refraction? The boat would have to be much farther away for that.
