Well this is all well thourght out and that but did you not think about when Virgin Galatic will be letting normal people into space thats right normal not Nasa repstentives or anything like that just normal people.

They will come back down after there time in space and would have saw the earth in all it's glory round just like this O round.

This will be in a few years but it will happen. You can't say the Goverment will bribe them or kill them or what ever because if they were hiding something they would have just said to Virgin "hay u can't fly in my space" and stopped it all togther.

There you can shut down your site now

Yeah, let's invest our scientific faith in something that has not yet happened or may never happen.

Also, did you not learn about run-on sentences and the correct use of the comma in elementary school?
I'm also an artist, I guess.

It would be pretty difficult with something on such a colossal scale. People would start getting suspicious about not being able to see out the windows during take-off. This is never going to happen, anyway.

Sure you can. A modified 707 "the vomit comet" does it all the time.

Actually I am 11.
I notice how you are beaten so you cheek me..

You your self can book a holiday now with Virgin Galactic. You should do it being so clever you will be able to tell if it is a simulation.

It's an interesting point - and I'd love to do it, if I could afford it.
However, since I have no frame of reference for such an experience, how would I be able to tell it was a simulation?

Re: Well..

Any one could tell from being able to see somethings thats not there . to actually getting on the plane you have to see it first either walking on the runway and up the stairs or through one of the walk ways and they can't make a portable simulator it requires big moters that have to fit underneath it and loads of eletricty just to run it.

People will be able to see the plane taking off with the people inside it no way can this be a simulation.

Like I said

Well, you make it sound like it happened yesterday. It hasn't happened; I'm not sure it will in my lifetime. If they come back and say "Guess what? The earth's flat." then what? Will you believe them? Or will you say, "oh bugger me with a stick, NASA wouldn't lie."

2009 they are taking bookings right now 20k deposit and 200k a ticket.

Book a ticket wen you come back enlighten us if the world is flat.

And yea if they come back and say "lol earth r flat" then I would belive them.

You're aware that because it is a business, they aren't going to say, "Well, we're rather behind schedule, so cancel those flights," right? Stock holders love those kind of conferences. It's hardly a done deal. It's an enterprise. You're aware of the big accident last July right? No? ok read this http://www.space.com/news/080128-ss2-engine-scaled-explosion.html  Are you still so excited to jump onboard? Does it sound like it's on schedule to you? All the kinks are worked out and they're ready to roll, right? The engine just blew up for reasons they don't understand. They don't even know if they're going to test fly next year. How in the world do you think they're on schedule to fly routes in 2009?
And how many people have an extra $200k to throw around? Not many.

EDIT: As to your quotes -- I know it's hard to believe when you're 11, but when you get older, you don't really care what other people think. And not in the "I'm going to rebel just like that group does" kind of way so common to youth.

I don't believe suborbital flights will ever be much of a business success.  Large amounts of money paid for a few minutes thrill just won't attract enough people to bear the costs.

Orbital flights which would get people from New York to Tokyo in an hour would perhaps find enough passengers but that is a long way off.  Maybe we can buy a ticket in 2050.

Isn't faster "standard" (atmospheric) flight more viable than an effective and fast orbital flight (assuming such a thing is possible)?
I'm just thinking of the supposed requirements to break away from the Earth.

But, I agree, unlikely.
The Virgin thingamy is a gimmic, and expensive at that.

Yes, I guess. I don't know enough about it really to form much of an opinion.  :)

Some people have posed the question, was Spaceship One a breakthrough or was it just stunt flying?  I do not mean to take anything away from Burt Rutan; it was still remarkable.

Actually, I had that thought at the time.
The impressive bit was that they set out to, and did, complete the challenge set. So hats off to them for that.
