My opinion on this subject is best expressed as I did in IM a few days ago:

(06:02:29) Robosteve: I spent much of my time at high school struggling with that very concept
(06:02:36) Robosteve: I just couldn't get my mind around it, it was too depressing
(06:02:51) Robosteve: but I learned that you don't get your mind around the concept
(06:03:04) Robosteve: you accept it, recognise it as your enemy, and treat it like one
I'm going to side with the white supremacists.

This whole higher purpose crap is only here because human beings are -as a species- incredibly arrogant and believe they are so marvelous that there must be reason for them to be here. Personally I don't believe that there is any objective reason for the human race to do anything or to even exist, besides the primitive instinctual drive to perpetuate the species.

As for ignorance being bliss, I disagree. If you go through life with blind ignorance, you miss everything that you can learn about yourself, the world and the people around you. For instance, I am on this forum in order to learn about FE theory and how to better interact with other people on the internet, if I ignore what others here have to say I will have missed out on so much.
