and consider that jet fighters are capable of flying above 40,000 feet (something FErs deny the possibility of), how would they fool every single fighter pilot? or are they all members of the conspiracy-THOUSANDS of them?!

1. I am sure it is possible to fly that high in some FE models.

2. They are part of the conspiracy.

3. The equipment is intentionally rigged to give false reading at certain altitudes to throw the pilots off.

Or, the one I put my money on, 4. The earth is a globe.

interesting you can come to a forum and step back in time by hundreds of years.  school would be a good option, hell even reading a little.

when i first got told about this forum i really really laughed!

So explain something to me, if you fly from London to Texas why does the plane go in an arc rather than a straight line on the map?

Well, been readin this wierd stuff for a week. Decided to post, with expected responses from members. Getting old, boring, and rediculous very fast. Would love to stick around, but not much to read in terms of evidence (the FAQ, oh please...my 2nd grade son could write better). No scientific support for a flat earth...only faith.

I don't think the coriolis effect has anything to do with why planes fly "curved" on a RE map.

I don't think it does... I'd imagine it's to do with the map being a flat rectangle and the Earth being a sphere.

No, actually it does. Take a look at the wiki page for Coriolis Effect, and I'm pretty sure its in there somewhere.

I'm pretty sure that they are curved on a flat projection because on a globe its supposedly the shortest path.

Partly. Partly because of the Coriolis effect. Think about it. On an 8 hour flight, the Earth has rotated 1/3 of the way around during that time. That will certainly change things around on a flight path, no?

I flew a four hour flight and did not take Coriolis into account.  As a matter of fact, I've never had to do so.

It doesn't make sense that you didn't, because if you were flying for 12 hours in mid-air with sealed windows, and just hovering, no visual, you would be on the opposite side of the world, no?

My E-6B does not have a Coriolis wheel, sadly, because would be rather cool.

One reason you don't take it into account is that it is 'built in' into your navigation method.  The VOR is moving along with the airport and the earth, so you are always correcting your course without ever realizing it.
