Thank you, and Kudos to anybody who can actually answer this important question, rather than ignoring it.

just because you are too narrow minded to see the point of this question, doesn't mean it has none.

OBVIOUSLY not completely flat?

Wow, and I thought the Earth was OBVIOUSLY spherical?

_edit

apparently not!

yes the earth is round, we all know that, those that dont agree need to be locked up in a padded room.
all im saying is if it was flat, what would it matter HOW flat it was, its flat.
and im not narrowminded.

well the reason I am asking HOW flat it is, is so that the dimwits who believe it is can have another bit of proof against their theory.

For instance, if I got a reply saying the earth is, say, 1 mile flat...

I would then make them aware of the 10 mile deep mines that are worked in daily.

How thin it is, you mean? This is unknown.

OH! you meen like how thick is it. im not quite sure about this but im pretty sure nobody knows because nobody has seen the other side of earth(if it was flat). there are many theories abou bhown it looks some think a cone shape, some say its just at flat on the other side, and then there is the elephant turtle thing.

The reason that I favor this question is that it begs the question: "Is the Earth flat enough not to a sphere?" If the FE community has measured the flatness that that would be an interesting experiment.

Asking questions, in general, is a good thing. I hope that we all can encourage good questions.

but technically it would be impossible to measure that right, you would kindaeither have to dig a LONG ways, or like, leave earth. well actually according to there model earth would leave you, and you would catch a fleeting glimpse of the back side. which might take a while because you dont know how thick the earth is.

but maybe you wouldn't need to dig a LONG way... It all depends on how flat the Earth is...

Wow, how flat is the earth? What a brilliant question!

well you would have to dig deeper than we ever have, which is pretty far. who knows maybe we have never really struck oil, it may be some liquid version of dark matter lol.

"Traveling to the center of the Earth is a fanciful concept, but consider the reality: We have so far drilled just 7.5 miles into the Earth's rocky crust"

Seems pretty long so far.

Perhaps the 'flat Earth' is only 8 miles deep?

And that quote has brought up another question...

Do the shells of the spherical Earth still exist on a Flat Earth?

If not is it just all hard rock? What is below our surface?

Shells? Do you mean tectonic plates?

What is below our surface?

The same stuff we've found so far.

I mean crusts, and cores.

So you think it is rock all the way through?

Where does the rock end? Where does the other side begin?

Well, we're still digging through the crust. The mantle isn't expected to be reached until 2012.

So you think it is rock all the way through?

Where does the rock end? Where does the other side begin?

Don't know. Should we?
