Honestly...
« on: August 23, 2007, 08:17:27 AM »
Honestly, you all would have me believing in FE if it were not for a few problems I can't understand.  Like your explanation of the make-up of space including the sun, moon, stars, and especially your theory of universal acceleration.  And I can't fathom your idea of a conspiracy.  I know your claim that money is the motive, but not everyone is motivated by money and you'd have to have a ton of people to pull this off.

Anyways...just wanted to start a discussion because I don't see anything else interesting going on so far today.
I am really starting to see why no one takes Tom seriously....

The UA is no more mysterious, in my opinion, than gravitation by mass.  What about the mass tells spacetime how much to bend?  No one knows.

Obviously, the few people required to continue the conspiracy are the kind of people who are motivated by money.  Let's not forget another thing:
Quote from: Lonestar
We're not doing this for money...We're doing it for a SHITLOAD of money!

The makeup of the cosmos is as much a mystery to me as it is you.  Dogplatter swears by the photoelectric effect and something else that lets us view the other flat planets riding the UA...but I don't understand them, so I won't talk about them. ^_^

It also make me wonder too how FEer's explain solar and lunar eclipses.  And if the sun is only 32 miles in circum.  then how does it produce enough heat to make the summer months as hot as it does in some places??

Well, the Sun is 32 miles in diameter.  It is also much, much, much closer to the Earth than the RE model.  That's how it can heat up the Earth, it's not as far away.  If you wonder where the 32 mile diameter and 3000 miles away come from, FE'ers state that it's using calculations when assuming a flat Earth as opposed to a round Earth.  I haven't personally done the calculations, but I'll take their word for them, for now.

ok so check this out...if we were to use the RE model for calculated distance the sun is from the earth and the claimed size of the sun, then by using Einstein's Theory of Relativity and the equation of the speed of light we could assume that those calculations in an RE model are correct.  Also given the amount of energy needed to produce heat and light to a planet at that distance one could, again prove the RE model correct.  However, it is possible to claim the FE model correct by just scaling down the measurements.  So it is probable to conclude that both models are possible.  Except for one little thing here....i would like to hear the FE's theory on planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, etc...  Mercury and Venus, according to RE, orbit the sun in front of us, so where are they in a FE model?  And trust me, you can obviously see Venus and Mars through a telescope and if you know where and when. Sometimes, if you know where to look and are careful,  you can catch Mercury.

Some heat is transferred from the sun, and yes it helps that it is closer. However, all heat comes from beneath us. The sun gets its energy from the earth. So the heat from the sun is actually heat from the earth. This explains several flaws in the global warming theories as well, making them much more believable.

It is the effect of regular changing temperatures within the earth. This is why the ground is hotter on summer days and cold on winter ones.

Yes, I forgot that was the FE (or at least your) stand on where the heat comes from.  Sorries!

It doesn't hibernate. It changes, moves. Someplace there is summer.

this is absurd...just admit that in the FE model the power of the sun is a lot lower than in the RE model because it's closer to earth.

I know your claim that money is the motive, but not everyone is motivated by money and you'd have to have a ton of people to pull this off.

And there are a ton more people in the world, so just don't let those guys in on it.

There is no way, in any conceivable means, to pull the wool over an entire population of this Island Earth to the extent that the FE pundits laud. It is mathematically, logistically, socially, and mentally impossible. It would also be FINANCIALLY impossible to fund that kind of operation, on a global scale, when there is no single monetary currency, and all the complex vagaries of human nature, ego, etc. And as was said before me, not everyone CAN be bought. Nor can every single human being involved in such a massive operation be accounted for at all times and made to adhere to the doctrine at all times. Simply put, it's bullshit.

They will of course point out that it is not impossible, because they say so, because the debate itself does not exist, and they need something to keep it [the game] interesting. Personally, I never found the game interesting, and now I find it lacking in cognitive thought. It is barren.

There is no conspiracy, except the one claiming there is one. *kiss*
