What's wrong with the North Pole being the Ice Wall?

All of models I've seen show that Antartica is the Ice Wall. Why not the North Pole?

I read an early post that discussed this topic. The reason listed was that the NP is better explored and most closely inhabited. The other reason that I'd offer is that the southern high latitudes have very little in terms of inhabited land masses, so the requisite distortions are less likely to be noticed.

It's easier to imagine hydrographic surveyors being utterly wrong than ground surveyors and cartographers...

The geography changes with geometry...The earth changes shape.

And if we want to get technical about it...
That is a round earth map polarized, so it is technical correct in proportions.
