Not earning much in North America is suicide.

How so?

You get sick, you're screwed because you can't afford to get better.  You need shelter, you're screwed because you can't afford any.  You want food, you're screwed because you can't afford it and can't afford land to grow it on.

Sigh.
That's earning no income, which then welfare comes into play. But I wasn't talking about earning no income, I never said you could live a happy life without income. Eh, I can argue both sides.

That's with shit income.  The prices of property are through the roof, and not to mention doctor bills...

Dissing the chav lifestyle again Maus..

And it is true people can live quite happily when poor. My mum grew up in a poor family, on a poor farm but she had a great life she tells me.

Or even dentist bills...I didn't even want this procedure(sp) to be done, and it's already reversed itself, and they charged me £45 :-\

And yeah, I'm too snobby to like chav lifestyle. :P

That isn't in North America though, which has the market economy remember.

I'm sorry. I did not realize you were a real estate agent and a doctor.

Look up welfare.

Whoah, missed this.  Only 45?  Just a check-up at the dentist costs $200/person where I live.

Families with "happy" jobs can't.  But if you go get a good job with benefits (you know, those jobs you say you really don't need) you can live without the pain of cavities.

Poor people in Britain have a great time of it. There's a chav family who live up the road from me. They don't work, they claim benefits instead and spend their days drinking and smoking, sat in their front garden....better life than most

I didn't even need the treatment. It was a new dentist, and she told me that my crowns' bites were very deep, and that food would get stuck in there...so she put in some fillant to make the bite shallower. It came out within a week. ::) It was rediculous, then there was the cost of the checkup, plus that...

@GG: oh yeah, they have a fabby time...but I want more to my life than that. Maybe it's cause I've used the education that the gov'ment gave me. :P

It's the welfare state mate, provides for those who can't or don't want to earn their own living. No stealing involved, but sometimes a little benefit fraud...

And Maus, sure it would be great to do something with my education, which the gov paid for up until the two years, but if I wanted to just be happy then I wouldn't bother. I'd get a job where I can have a laugh and earn enough to live on and enjoy my free time in the common way.

Their government allows it.

Again, lucky Brits...  So, since our governments (North American ones) steal and screw us over all the time, having a "happy" job isn't going to allow a happy lifestyle.  You need to be making a decent amount to be able to have enjoyment that allows you to keep your teeth.

It's the welfare state mate, provides for those who can't or don't want to earn their own living. No stealing involved, but sometimes a little benefit fraud...

Sounds like the north-american equivalent of a trailer park, except they enjoy their time.

Your family is chavs?  If you follow suit I'll label you pathetic for taking away from people who have to take time away from their families just to afford a living.

If you want to keep your family fed, you have to do it, or buy a lot of land and have them work it with you to grow the food along with alternate income to afford those things you can't do on your own.

Uhhm, I was kidding.  But even then, you're going to have to spend time away from the family to afford a lot of land for the kids to work.
