This doesn't even have to apply to just money.

Wasn't it Dickens who wrote that? Something along the lines of "annual income is twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pound ought and six, result misery"

Thought as much. Good saying, almost impossible to live by in this debt ridden world though.

Yep. Most sayings lose their meanings due to the changing of the times... or just plain old overuse.

Oh, and freedom from pain helps a lot.

Almost impossible.

Yeah to be free of pain you'd pretty much have to live in a bubble. That said, wouldn't mind being free from pain right now.

You get sick, you're screwed because you can't afford to get better.  You need shelter, you're screwed because you can't afford any.  You want food, you're screwed because you can't afford it and can't afford land to grow it on.

Sigh.
That's earning no income, which then welfare comes into play. But I wasn't talking about earning no income, I never said you could live a happy life without income. Eh, I can argue both sides.

If I want to live a better life than shit I do.

You can live a fine life without graduation.

Not round here you can't...

That's the mindset that makes it not possible to live a decent life without graduating. If you have a talent, and everyone does, you can exploit it and make money, or you could just work a normal job that doesn't require a graduation. A good life is not necessarily one with a lot of money, and most graduates I know don't even make much money, take my father for example.
Oh I know plenty of people who are poor and had a fine life - in fact, they probably had a better life than I am having now. My mother when she was a child, my grandparents...They had a wonderful life. No, I'm thinking of the people who have no qualifications of any sort, no developed skill, who squandered their compulsory education on being 'cool' and trying to ruin other's education at the same time. These people can't possibly have a good life - they cheat, they lie, they're unhappy, pick a fight with people in the streets for wearing a hoody or being 'snobby', and just waste the little money they have on tacky clothes and accessories, any brats they had as a teen and booze.

However it is perfectly possible to have a happy life without an income. :D Difficult, but possible.
....

bit of a broad sweeping sterotype I know, but I grew up with quite a few people who have turned out that way. Most of the town just 5 minutes away from me is made up of people like that. Apparently it's the Chlamydia centre of Europe. Not sure if it's true or not, but there's a bit of trivia for you :P

back on topic:....errm. What was the topic again?
