google earth
« on: April 17, 2007, 12:24:39 PM »
since the thread below is locked, i thought i'd ask here...

tom admits google earth is a compilation of thousands of pictures (but taken from airplanes, not satellites....fine, whatever.)

so um...zoom out a bit and tell me...where's all that missing water? certainly there should be a whole lot more pictures of the big and blue in that southern hemisphere, but strangely enough, it's not there :c( i would also like to point out the missing ice wall in the pictures...

also...if the earth was truly flat, you'd think the good ol' boys down at google would have noticed, and maybe showed it that way when you zoom out far enough...

proof of conspiracy!

google's huge gain in the last couple years must be due to the conspiracy paying them off to pretend the world is round!

Why would the 'good old boys' at Google know anything about the true shape of the earth?

Because they've seen the evidence! Presumably they have loads of 'extra sea' pictures that they're keeping under wraps to stop the conspiracy getting out. Plus ice wall pictures. Oh, and they must have falsified the ones over antarctica...

Why would the 'good old boys' at Google know anything about the true shape of the earth?

because, as tom readily admits, they photographed every square mile of the earth in order to make google earth...

but i know, you think tom's a moron...so what is your opinion on the huge lack of water in the southern hemisphere on google earth?

Google is not in the picture taking business.

Oh that's right.  ::)
My problem with his ideas is that it is a ridiculous thing.

Google is not in the picture taking business.

certainly the project was financed by google, and the projects google earth and google maps (which has a satellite/very big radio tower option) are proofs...so in a way, yes, google IS in the picture business.

though granted, someone else did the actual picture taking. it fact, it was the good ol' boys down at keyhole inc. who did it. and as you may or may not be aware, they were bought by google in 04 to create google earth, originally released in 05. so...uh....i suppose it was google after all, wasn't it?

Google does not own sattelites. Also, I'm assuming many of their pictures overlap, due to the fact that they get thousands of these photographs, so what's the big deal if they have "...extra sea" photos?

And for the last time, Google Earth is no more proof of a round Earth than is a map on a globe.

....except that a map is something somebody drew, and google earth is composed entirely of pictures. (of course, with usual FE logic, i suppose every one of them could be faked...in which case we're in more trouble than we think, because the conspirators have my house on google earth meaning they could blow it up at any moment...)

and actually google BOUGHT OUT the company which was using satellites to photograph the earth, meaning yes, they do own satellites. did you even read my post? (once again, by usual FE logic, nobody owns satellites, because they don't exist...in which case google owns a lot of photograph-taking planes nobody records taking off or landing...)

and it's not that they have "extra sea" photos, don't you know your own map? if FE existed there would be MISSING thousands of square miles of ocean, but the whole map seems to fit together rather nicely as it is, with the obvious faults and stuff visible....

in an ironic twist, one of the customers of keyhole before they were bought out by google was the US Army...well there you have it. the army convinced keyhole to photoshop ALL the pictures and fool the entire planet into buying the conspiracy, and in return the US army was a "customer" and nobody would suspect large bank transfers are actually a pay off....

man, this FE conspiracy stuff practically writes itself.

Keyhole was a software company.  They did not own any satellites.  Google acquired them for their digital mapping and direction software.

Engineer! Please help! Tom has gone crazy and is being an idiot again. I know you're not his babysitter and we have our disagreements, but I think if you just own him a little he might stop embarrassing your society. Look for the Earth Rotation thread.

i'll take your word for it, since my only actual knowledge of Keyhole is from wikipedia...

the point stands...somebody took the pictures...so i'm still wondering where the extra water pictures went, without them being obviously deleted....

but i suppose this falls into the "faked pics" conspiracy, which i promised myself i wouldn't touch, because i prefer to debate scientific ideas, which are much more interesting than a "there's a conspiracy/no there isn't/back and forth" thread....

so as far as i am concerned, this thread is done for me with no real winner...i'm not really interested in another photoshop answer, i was wondering if someone had a possible scientific reply...

I assume you were referring to this

I can assure you that was not the first time a genius has graced us with his presence and brought up google earth.

As I said use the search function. Looking at another thread at the top of the page that's been locked for the same reason isn't searching.

Or, if you had done a search, you would have seen where I stated before about Keyhole.  Did you not think that the other thread was locked for a reason?
