Just wondering why the US government, and for that matter, every other government on Earth would go through such effort to cover up the world was flat?

I know it says in the FAQs that it's a conspiracy. So, at least. What do FEers think the reason behind the conspiracy is?

I for one havent worked out how someone in power, who knows this "truth" hasn't already used it to their advantage. There are many many rich people out there that could have and would have used this "knowledge" and proved all the conspiring governments wrong. I mean that would be too obvious wouldn't it? I mean waaaaay to logical and likely.

I bet aliens are the reason. Aliens control our governments. Or satan, he's a crafty one.

Granted that there could be a few different ways to use it and still keep it from the public perception. But the greatest and fastest track to power is using the masses. There are a lot of powerful and impatient people out there. Do you really believe, after all this time, no one who is powerful, rich and impatient wouldn't have proved the flat theory to the masses at the same time as denouncing the conspiritors?

Why has 1 nation not used this conspiricy against another? We have nations that war over some really petty stuff. This would be a golden reason to start a war and cease more power.
