Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Few questions I have
« on: September 03, 2008, 05:06:14 AM »
but if there were no sloths, those last few posts would never have happened... god must have seen this topic in his great plan and created an amusing animal...
he also created RE'ers to amuse the FE'ers.

RET: It's funny because it's true

dont you remember, the only proof of the conspiracy is that there is no proof. make sense of that and i will belive anything you say

I can make sense of that. This is why I'm not religious. The theory that because it can't be proved, means it must exist to cover itself up. The difference is I don't think religions remembered the "cover up" bit.

have you got to the bit with the dragons

I'm up to the bit where earth tilts from side to side. My favorite bit was where the moon gives out "cold light"

I think first you have to prove to me that there is a conspiracy and that the pictures and videos are false. Care to do it?

Nope. You have to prove that NASA's claims are true. You're the one coming here and making the clam of something beyond human experience. It's not our responsibility to prove a negative.

Except it's not beyond human experience. You're just saying it is to make your claims of a flat earth fit better with the conspiracy.

I think first you have to prove to me that there is a conspiracy and that the pictures and videos are false. Care to do it?

The earth is flat. NASA etc says the earth is round. Ergo they are lying.

And this is going on that the Earth is flat. And I'm under the assumption that someone needed a conspiracy theory in the first place because they couldn't prove it. Therefore a conspiracy theory would "make this all believable". Which, so far it hasn't had the global effect that I'm sure they would've liked.

ahhh ok, so these gravitons you refer to are the things that attract objects together, like us to the earth. Well as I stated before I am not well enough educated to really reply, so I guess I will just have to read up on it.
I recommend J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit if you're into fantasy.

Nah, I'm already half way through the FAQ.

This section is called  'Flat Earth Questions & Clarification' right?

Aye but eventually the thread will get ignored.

so if i were to show you every single video and picture from space in the world. you are going to say that all of them are fake? every single one?
first you would have to prove to me that they were actually taken in space - which you cant.
have you been to space?
didnt think so.

I think first you have to prove to me that there is a conspiracy and that the pictures and videos are false. Care to do it?

Stiiiill no answer. Starting to think people are just trying to avoid the question, as with many other threads I've seen

wow. we're onto two pages and still all the FE's (i'm looking at you, narc!) have avoided the question!

funny that...

I know. It happens. And then when someone brings the point back up, it is ignored until it moves off the front page and subsequently forgotten about.

I have another point.

The FAQ says that the ice wall is like a mountain range, with ice and snow on top. If it takes just a few decades for a hotel in yorkshire to have to be moved 700 yards inland because a good 1500 yards of land had been eroded by the water, then how come, with the water crashing against it constantly for hundreds of millions of years, would the ice wall still exist with no gaps?

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Boats And Planes
« on: September 01, 2008, 12:45:12 PM »
We have no souls? I am not the one accusing every corporation in the world of killing people for money.

And the morality card. Did you really think "Let's tell everyone the world is flat because the world is in terror" until I brought that up? Or was it more like "Let's tell everyone the world is flat just because the government must be lying, even though we have no evidence of a conspiracy"?

And the money going to NASA. Then what? Is there a a few hundred people who own 150 rolls royce's, 3 concordes and their own italian island because they do sit there and think how they could make more money? With the money that pours in these people wouldn't need to go to NASA, they'd be able to sit on their arses all day. These people would be richer than Bill Gates, and he once told an interviewer he wouldn't pick up a thousand dollars in the street because he would have made 10 times more in the time it took him to pick it up.

And we're going to hell? How am I making light of it? I am not the one who tells people they are being brainwashed. I am not the one telling people the government is trying to make money by slaughtering the entire world. We are the ones who notice that the world is in turmoil and you are the ones sitting here who in their own FAQ say
Quote
A: They only appear to be disorganized to make the conspiracy seem implausible.

We are the people that aren't ignorant enough to think
Quote
A: Well it's quite simple really; if the earth is in fact flat, then the governments must be lying when they say it isn't.

All that says to me is that you have invented this conspiracy to blame all life's problems on one thing. "Iraq is under siege!" "Oh don't worry, it's a publicity stunt."

We live in the real world. And it's round.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Boats And Planes
« on: September 01, 2008, 12:04:11 PM »
What proof do you have that NASA (and countries) profit from this? Do you have inside information?
The earth is flat, so they must be lying. What is the purpose of lying? Profit.
How in the world (in the world ho ho ho) would they profit from telling people the world is a different shape than it is?

"We have altered people's perception! Now we will make money from confused people phoning us on a premium line! Muhahahaha!"
You really are dense aren't you? Do you know how much funding NASA gets each year? Since they are just faking a space program and not actually running one, they get to pocket the difference. That is a lot of free money...

Tell that to the families of those that have died on those missions. I'm sure they would appreciate you telling them their families died so the government can say "The earth is round". And how about those same incidents where spaceships were destroyed, which quite obviously weren't cobbled together from old egg cartons.

Another point is the economic stress the world is going through at the moment. Here in Britain our economy has stopped moving for the first time in decades. The military is drastically under funded. Pensions are hardly enough to live on. The government has hardly any money. I believe America is in some state of monetary problems. New Orleans fully rebuilt yet? All those made homeless by hurricane katrina been rehoused and compensated? So what's happening to this money? Are all these governments taking it and leaving it in bank vault? Africa and other third world countries certainly don't get it unless they are part of the conspiracy and just living as poor, dying out people?

And people have believed the Earth was round since before NASA or any space program. How have people made money from it before then? Was Galileo the grand conspirator of this scheme? Are billions dying every year just so the government can say "We're getting money that is not used anywhere"?

Of course everyone in the world is part of the conspiracy silly me. There was are no hurricanes or wars or third world countries are there? People aren't homeless and out of pocket are they?

EDIT: sorry if I sound angry, that's the reason I try to keep my posts short. I tend to rant.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: The Sun and It's Movement
« on: September 01, 2008, 11:36:01 AM »
Ok I'm going to get back to my original question and enhance it. You have explained the size. But how can you explain the movement of the sun moving across the sky. Glare cannot be used to explain this unless light can refract through the atmosphere in a way which keeps changing even though nothing is moving. The sun moving away cannot make light refract in different directions, unless something is moving.

Now here is a choice as I see it:

1) A flat Earth does spin/move

OR

2) The Sun does move/spin

OR

3) Light can refract in ways that completely breaks the laws of refraction

None of which comply with your claims. Answers please?

That map is only an estimate.  The true flat earth map has not yet been...well...mapped out.

After centuries, a FE map hasn't been created, whereas RE ones have multiple times accurately. Hmmmmmmm.

Mine proves the earth is flat.
Yours proves that idiots believe in RE.

I wish to respond that the idiot is the one that simply thinks "It is flat" is an appropriate answer.

Oh how I forget my audience sometimes. Lets try it this way.
I'm rubber and you're glue, it bounces off of me and sticks to you.

Consider my point proved. Thank you Narc

So if you wouldn't mind, I would like to fill in the gaps. The more I understand, the better for everyone :)

hehe, no probs with the lolz.

But back to the matter at hand. You say the light gets distorted. Fair answer. However, you said it shrinks away, so surely the amount of light reaching the earth would also reduce, thus the light being distorted would still show the sun getting smaller.

Flat Earth Q&A / The Sun and It's Movement
« on: August 30, 2008, 10:45:09 AM »
Hello, first time poster. I want to raise an issue with your FAQ. Under the sunrises sunset bit it says, and I quote:

Quote
It's a perspective effect.  Really, the sun is just getting farther away; it looks like it disappears because everything gets smaller and eventually disappears as it gets farther away.

However, the Sun does not get smaller/bigger when it set/rises. It appears to go up and down. It does not change size or shape, and I would please like someone to explain this "phenomenon".
