Flat Earth Debate / Re: i bet you cant do this
« on: August 16, 2008, 09:36:11 PM »
i like how tom bishop is the only person on this site who goes through the trouble to explain to people what has already been explained. he does not get stuck on the fact that it has already been debated. if you guys really want to have debates, you are going to have to continue to debate old topics, or else this site will run out of things to debate about... there isnt THAT MUCH to say about the earth being round/flat. now please stop telling everyone that something has been discussed before and just start discussing.

Countless photographs.

There are also countless photographs of the flat earth. More in fact than show a round earth.

No, there are not.  There are photos of mountain ranges, forests, plains, deserts, etc etc.  But there are no photos of a "flat" Earth from space.  Or from the outer atmosphere.  No photos from the edge of the Earth.  There is not a single photo in existence that shows the Earth is flat.

First hand accounts of astronauts.

And we should trust them because.........

The question is, why shouldn't we trust them?  Oh, 'cause the burden of proof is on the visitors to your board.  How convenient.  I thought this was a forum for debating.  Tell me why I shouldn't trust them, and give me a good reason other than "the earth is flat therefore there is a conspiracy".

The astronauts accounts are also backed up by many people on the ground.  Over the decades, thats thousands of people.  All very intelligent people, too.  So either, they're all lying, or they are being fed false information.  But like I said, they're intelligent people.  Is there an account from one single sole individual that has worked for NASA or any other space program that believes the Earth is flat or that there is a conspiracy?

don't even bother arguing with these guys. they're just in it for fun, and the harder you try to convince them they're wrong, the harder they laugh. seriously, internet debating does not increase your debating skill very much, because you aren't looking at the person you're arguing with. So, you aren't getting better at debating, and you aren't getting anywhere with convincing these guys that they're wrong, so what's the point? the earth is obviously round so let's all stop playing their stupid debating game. you're much smarter than any FE'er on this site, and "winning" the arguments isn't necessary to prove that.

go to the beach. it's fun there. this site, on the other hand, isn't fun. plus, there's hot girls at the beach. none on here. i wonder why...

If you're here for the lulz then enjoy. Yeah it's good practice to debate here, but the moral of this story is: don't take it too far, and don't expect to win.

You never win in practice right?

No one ever wins.

I have been reading loads of debates between the FE'ers and the RE'ers. Let's face it, no one will ever give up and take the other's side. This is basically a giant waste of time, and i know the creator of this site is sitting in his chair laughing his ass off at all of us while we put out our best arguments, in hopes of changing someone else's mind on the subject at hand, and we get nowhere. RE'ers, we have nothing to prove to the FE'ers. They can think whatever they want, and there is no need to change their beliefs.

Many people on this site claim to be "open-minded." Because you believe in something out of the ordinary, does not make you open-minded. No one here gives in, and no one ever considers the other's argument. So basically, we are all stubborn little whiners.

Now, please, RE'ers, let's just leave this site and go spend our time on something worth while. This site, imo, is better for the FE community to just discuss within itself about the details of their theory. Us coming in here and saying "no" to every little piece of their theory is just causing unnecessary arguing.

I know there's a debate and discussion section on the forums and all, but let's face it, it's pointless.

Now, let's all just gtfo and go have a nice time with our RL buddies. I'm talking to the RE'ers of course.

Thank you for replying to my questions. I will now decide whether or not i still think the Earth is round.

On this map, you pretty much can't go south from anywhere and reach Antarctica.

sorry i meant to say this here:

then why is Earth the only non-spherical thing in the universe?

I have a few questions for the FE'ers.

When i see images of Earth, taken from very far away in space, at night, how come i never see the moon or the sun in the picture? Because if the pictures are taken from extremely far distances from earth, then how are you supposed to avoid the two largest spotlights?

How are 652 or w/e people supposed to guard over 74k miles of snow? I know I know you have that explanation with the snowmobiles and stuff, but if it's so convenient for 650 people to cover that vast amount of space, then why does California have border problems? It's about 200 miles of flat desert.

What made the ice on the edge of the Earth freeze over in the first place? I know you'll say, "because of the lack of sun light that reaches the area." But why didn't most of the water just fall off from the start?

So you say that the sun is located just above the equator. Thus, the circle of light that it must create from its rays must reach from the ice wall to the arctic circle (half the Earth.) And for this to happen, according to my calculations, based of the fact that the Earth's diameter (according to you guys) is ~ 25k miles, the sun's rays must come off at ~64.302 degrees (from both edges.) Now, being the flat light that you FE'ers describe it as, it is impossible for the light to achieve such a large distance of covered areas without giving most of the 12.5k miles of land it covers an equal amount of sunlight. How come we have deserts at our equator that are much drier than places < 1k miles away?

Why are there no reports of people, who flew to "Antarctica," looking over this 150 foot ice wall? Do you have any thoughts on why these people never spoke about seeing deep space while looking towards Earth? (If you're that close to the wall, then basically you should see space instead of what you thought was going to be a blanket of snow.)

How can someone jump off the edge of the Earth, and have the Earth fly past it, if everything in the universe must accelerate upwards at 9.8m/s^2? Why don't we, and everything we took from the Earth (materials to make objects,) accelerate with everything else in the universe as well?

What caused the massive amount of molten lava under our Earth's crust?

If the Earth is accelerating at 9.8m/s^2 toward all the atmospheric air that we have, then why aren't we being smashed down into the ground by the sheer force of the air? And why aren't we seeing huge amounts of water being pushed around by this air?

Do you all think planets and stars are flat too? Because if not, then why is Earth the only spherical thing in the universe?

What are the sun and the moon rotating around? Please explain to me why the sun and the moon are rotating.

How can meteors hit the moon (on the side we see) and the Earth?

I can understand how you are able to create a flat piece of rock, like the Earth, but how is a flat mass of gas, like the sun, achieved?
