Flat Earth Debate / Re: the earth is a 3 dimensional sphere in my eyes

wikipedia is not evidence.

A question for the FAQ:

Why is Tom Bishop even here?

Honestly, I mean, most people seem to dislike him. Yet he still visits here? >_>

He provides comic relief.

@SushiTsunami: hah true

*Whisper out of Tom's range of hearing*
Does he know that nobody takes him seriously? <_<
I think with just a little time on this forum, you'll "get it" Xmpt is completely hopeless....and a raging coprophiliac.

It is your problem, I don't have to convince you of my beliefs. This isn't the FlatEathDefenseSociety. Also, if you respected my beliefs, why would you storm into this forum and demand we all believe you?
I never came in demanding you beleive me I onlywanted to make my points and see your arguments but the amount of immaturity ( I'm not innocent of this ) is crazy expecially with what you beleive
No, you're not innocent of it. You're points were overplayed and over explained. You said you looked around the site. If you had, I'm positive you would have seen your answers. The day you prove the earth is a sphere, I swear I'll become a round earther.

No one likes Xmpt, but he's still here.

5
Xmpt, funny you should mention Chuck. He was nailing your grandma's stinktube while she drank up.

and EXACTLY i was raised as a round earth beleiver there is no possable way to change my mind we  ALL grow up to beleive in one thing or another wether it be flat round or square so thats why sites like this and arguments like this will go on forever both sides will both keep coming up with " proof they beleive is correct.

I didn't grow up believing the earth was flat though and I'll wager no one here was raised as a flat earth believer.
Why the FUCK do you believe the earth is flat. I want extremely reliable evidence NOW!

You idiotic shitbag theorists.
What does that make you? You haven't shown ANY PROOF that the Earth is a sphere. What makes you think we must belief what you believe?

"theskeptic", you came to this forum. If anything, you should convince everyone the Earth is a sphere, and you'll have to use quantifiable evidence, not observational evidence. Also, when people say things like "You are in the conspiracy!!!!" or "Nasa is a bunch of seal-clubbing Nazis!!!" unless Tom Bishop said it, they are playing devil's advocate, or making fun of close-minded noobs that present the same three points in there first post that have been explained so many times over.

Flat Earth Q&A / It's hilarious

I think it's funny when people's first post starts with "I've got an open mind but..."

1. If any one says you're actually a significant part of the conspiracy, odds are they are just screwing with you.
2. I haven't visited this forum in months, and the first post I see is a John Q. Ofcoursetheearthisaspherebecauseigotmyphysicsdegreeinhighschool
3. "theskeptic", no one owes you answers, and since you've brought nothing to the table, you won't get any.

or maybe he's comparing summer shots to winter shots of the same place, and saying one is fake because there's different amounts of white!

give us some EXAMPLES, Tom! SHOW us some photos and POINT out the differences that you CLAIM are "doctored"!!!!!
The funniest thing about your posts is that you keep making them, while claiming people on this forum are idiots and are wasting our time. A tall glass of irony anyone?

Where in the bible does God say pork is okay to eat? When did He change his mind?
Matthew 5:17-20
So then you are agreeing with me.
No, see above arguments.
In that verse Jesus says he did not come to change God's laws. How does that contradict what I said about Christians not being able to eat pork?

Sushi: I'd advise looking up the term 'order of magnitude'.
An order of magnitude is the class of scale or magnitude of any amount, where each class contains values of a fixed ratio to the class preceding it. The ratio most commonly used is 10.

Dsyfunction, you don't know every atheist on earth. I'd venture so far as to say you don't even know half of all of the atheists on the earth. You can't pretend to know what all of them believe, or stereotype them so that they all agree with you.

Wrong. I'm not arguing in favor of Christianity, I'm arguing that it's idiotic to blame any one group for shitty laws and ethics. I know atheists who hate homosexuals, and I know Christians who have no problem with them, myself included.

I call bullshit; I think you're bluffing. I think you don't actually know any atheists who hate homosexuals.

And yes, when those shitty laws and ethics follow from a core piece of that group's self-definition (in the case of Christianity, the Bible), it is perfectly reasonable to blame them on said group.
I think you are dumb. It seems a reasonable assumption, if we're going to just start assuming things about one another. You don't know who I know, and I find it hard (but not impossible) to believe you've never met a homophobic atheist. You're as closed-minded as the radicals you hate.

Assume what you like. Any theist who I have ever debated at length will tell you I am very far from closed-minded.

I say that you are bluffing based on my assumption that I know roughly an order of magnitude more atheists than you do, and of them only one is a homophobe, and he is certifiably insane.
How can you assume you know more atheists than I do? And how many atheists equal a magnitude? 15? 500? You're as bad at arguing as Smarticus.

You're not up on your ancient history are you? Christianity is based on a fulfilment of the Mosaic Law. If God decides mankind is ready for his new law, then yes "after millenia of it being forbidden to eat pork, God just changed his mind." Although he knew he was going to do it, so nothing really changed as far as his mind.
Where in the bible does God say pork is okay to eat? When did He change his mind?

Condeming Homosexaulity (and Bisexaulity I guess) is like condeming pork or condeming the wearing of mixed fabrics. Modern "Christians" no longer adhere to the latter two. Also trustee, if you're a religious expert then you know all sin (save blasphemy and suicide) weigh equally, so if you sin at all then you have as much sin as some one who commits sodomy.

What evidence do you have they weren't paid off? Before you say "But you are ridiculous and have no proof" niether do you. You don't know they weren't all paid off.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Quick Question
« on: November 13, 2007, 06:55:13 PM »
Well that's what I'm thinking. Many people grow up thinking their religous views are the right ones, and would go to such lengths as blowing themselves up to prove so. Not to mention creating a website dedicated to such an irrational idea.
Assume much? Also, every FE'er I've met on this forum so far have all been atheists, but I couldn't possibly speak for all of them.

This is not a universally accepted map among FE, but it's as good as any.

What are you talking about? You've yet to prove that they have to be religious to believe the FE theory, you just assumed it. The burden of proof is on you.

Very few of us are religious.  I, for example, hate religion.

Where is your proof that they are? Uh, burn.

hey im christian...
and im bisexual

I don't think you understand Christianity. You are no Christian. You are a sexual degenerate, and an idiot though.
While I'm certain that you are just trolling, and much like the floating oceans you're just trying to make an ass of yourself, you are not a christian. A Smarticus by any other name is still a jackass - William Shakespeare.

While it would be wrong to cause any violent acts against homosexuals, it is morally requisite that we lawfully force all homosexuals to paint their homes pink and identify themselves to their neighbors as homosexuals before they are allowed to enter a neighborhood. Think of the children.
You are trolling. I'm tempted to flip flop because I'm ashamed of somewhat sort of kinda arguing in your favor.

The way I see it, if it doesn't hurt another human being, it shouldn't be considered immoral.
Same here.

SushiTsunami, the problem is that the morals you are talking about were created by people who think they have the right to rule other peoples lives (the Christians). They think that just because they disagree with something, nobody should be allowed to do it, so they claim it is immoral. Look at Homosexuality. Many people are convinced that it is immoral, even though clearly it isn't. The only reason these people believe this is because they were raised believing it. The same goes for many other things as well.
Wrong. I'm not arguing in favor of Christianity, I'm arguing that it's idiotic to blame any one group for shitty laws and ethics. I know atheists who hate homosexuals, and I know Christians who have no problem with them, myself included.
