Superstrings, anyone?

If the FE is suspended on superstrings (imagine enormous elastic bands), they should be strong enough to provide constant acceleration.

Not if the warbling follows a pattern.

Didn't know there was a plan??? And a Lord? I have a LandLord. Is that who you're talking about?

Theres a number of things that don't make sense about it:

- it seems the popular belief these days for FErs is that the earth is an infinite plane. An infinite plane cannot tilt without infinite energy.
- if there was a tilt, it'd be one way, back and forth. The focoult pendulum isn't switching back and forth.. it's swinging with the motion of the earth
- the tilt would mean that while the earth was at the apex of the swing, anything that is acting under "gravity" would be doing so on an angle. So  if you held a pendulum out, it'd be tilted.
Well popular beliefs change, so don't take it a given that earth is an infinite plain! It is also a popular belief, as stated, that the earth does tilt, creating tides. Which might be contradicted by other, newer popular beliefs.

And noone said earth tilts only in 1 direction, back and forth. If it were, the pendulum would of course only swing in one direction. It doesn't. That's because earth tilts in several directions, changing the direction of the pendulum.

How so? If ye mount a gallow on a plate, a pendulum on the gallow, then ye tilt the plate, the pendulum will swing, won't it? Is that really so hard to grasp? And if ye tilt the ground in a circular motion, the pendulum will move in a circle, won't it?

Well...to be honest: There are several theories about gravitation. One's that earth's accelerating. The other one's that earth rests on the back of a gigantic turtle (which explains the wobbling and tides, too) and gravitation is nothing but animal attraction.

Problem is we can only observe the effects of gravitation, not its causes.

Well enough bollocks, back on topic!

If the question was how gravity makes a pendulum swing, the engineer already stated earth's moving upwards, thus creating gravity. If you're thinkin' of the Foucault: Read the FAQ concerning tides. Earth tilts, creating tides. This tilt affects the pendulum too. Duh!

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Why?
« on: April 01, 2008, 08:20:44 PM »
I have one simple question to ask your entire society about the "conspiracy."

Why?

It see no reason why the government would choose to fake the moon landing and convince people that the Earth is round.  Enlighten me, okay?
Why? There are so many reasons, but if I knew the truth, I'd be a happy man! I guess it must have something to do with people being happier if someone tells'em the world is round. Because that would make everything way easier to explain.

For me it's just like religion. Noone can imagine how the universe has existed forever, or maybe the big bang occurred. It's just so much easier to blame it all on a 'god'.

For example, you state that the Earth's tides are controlled by a slight tipping or wobbling of the Earth. If that is the case then why is it when the moon is full over the center of America the tides rise significantly on the East and West coasts at the same time?

Problem is we still haven't agreed where the center of the map is. Consider North America in the north of the map it would mean the earth tipped towards the north. Thus the water will rise on both sides og NA.

Also it might have to do with the wobbling and the wave theory. I'ma get back to that after finishing me tinfoil-hat. Don't want the conspiracists to read me thoughts.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Coroilis
« on: April 01, 2008, 07:45:41 PM »
Fair enough but storms in the southern hemisphere rotate in a different direction than those in the northern hemisphere due to the Coriolis effect. How can you explain that? And please don't tell me that this is just another part of the conspiracy.
It actually is. Part of the conspiracy. Word is the coriolis is created by a large fan located on the west side of teh earth disc. It blows along the equator, thus creating weather rotation in opposite directions on the northern and southern half.
