Why do you do that? My wife (who died of ALS) was so happy when she found John Walker Red Label at extra price which I have forgotten how much. This was in the good old time when we used DMs - German Marks - real, strong money. German whisky was never any good.

Look I don't buy some of Hawkings conclusions. However, his mental processing power, extrapolation ability and memory retention was something of an amazement. I honestly think we don't know all of what he was capable of because of that disease and needed voice box.

Unreal. The world lost a great mind, a compassionate person, an educator, a philosopher, a philanthropist, a kind human being. Someone who dedicated his life to the advancement of human knowledge, doing everything in his power to give to civilization the best way he knew how.

Some respect is owed. We are fortunate to have people like him in modern day science. Not only because of his scientific contributions, but also because of his ability to communicate to and inspire future generations.

This is a sad loss. It's hard to put into words. It is poetic that he passed on Einstein's birthday.

This is a very important post. I'm grateful we still have the likes of Leonard Susskind and Ed Witten around (to name only a couple), but while brilliant, they are not public figures in the same way and do not capture the interest of the general public in the same way. Hawking was special, and it's too bad to see people trying to trash him this way instead of just talking a second to acknowledge what he achieved.

You’re missing the point.  You stated that Stephen Hawking’s is “about 20 points of less IQ” than yours.  That makes you smarter than 99.9999951684% of the human beings on the planet. 

That would make you one of the greatest minds in human history.  And, at the current population of the earth there would only be ≈360 people on the whole planet who are as smart or smarter than you.  Three Hundred Sixty People!

That is what is means to have an IQ 20 points higher than Stephen Hawking.

If all the flat earthers in the world moved to Turkey,  the average IQ of both Turkey and the rest of the world would go up.

Among the many things I liked about Stephen Hawking,  was his common sense warnings about AI and aliens,  for those who don't know,  he warned about AI being able to evolve faster than humans, and would eventually overtake us. 

Likewise and encounter between humanity and aliens with the technology to reach earth, would likely not go well for us. 
 
I haven't seen this film,  but sounds like it might be a fitting way to remember on of the great minds of our time.
