Are all the FE's on this american?

Just seems interesting how this belief seems to be only a western thing, and more of an american thing.

The majority of FE's are from Canada, Australia and the UK, but there are several from the US.

If you consider Australia "western", then I suppose you might think that. Although the society was started in England.

I am aware of this, edlloyd. I was simply pointing out that this isn't a "western fad" as the majority of the people who adhere to it are to the east of you.

I think you're a little confused Geo.

However I just wanted to point out that almost all English speaking internet forums are predominately Western - so I don't think you can draw any significant conclusions about the fact that most of the members of this forum are Western.

but 300million people speak english as a native language. and millions of others learning english. China has more people learning english, than the population of america.

So just 4 countries out of the millions of people that speak english?

What does that have to do with what I said?

Can you give me an example of an English speaking internet forum that is not predominately Western, and is not based around a topic specific to non-westerners?

If I can manage to interpret your broken English, I think you are trying to say that there are lots of non-Westerners who are capable of posting on English forums.

NOBODY IS DENYING THAT THAT IS THE CASE

However the fact remains, that all English speaking internet forums that I have seen are predominately Western.  While plenty of non-Westerners are certainly capable of posting on this forum, and many other English speaking forums, they choose not to.  Do you deny that this is the case?  Can you provide an example of an English speaking forum with a significant amount of non-Westerners posting on it?

I can list hundreds of internet forums that are English speaking and predominately Western if you want me to.

But things like myspace? Loads of people from other lands on that.

So I'm refering to interests. IE, FE seems to be a western interest

Myspace is not an internet forum.

Can you give a statistic as to how many non-Westerns write in English on their MySpace pages?  A percentage would be great.  Also a percentage of how many non-Westerners have access to the internet, as opposed to how many don't.

Surely the vast majority of the world, especially the non-Western world does not have access to the internet, and so is not exposed to the flat Earth theory.  I hardly see the fact that this is a "Western interest" as surprising, or significant.

Look..I'm not ruling it out. It's just the way it seems to me.

My ex is Taiwanese, so I'll get her to do a seach in Chinese. And my current is Swiss so I'll see what she can find in German.

Quite curious about this actually

Generally most profiles I've seen of non native speakers I've seen are in english. And the amount of Chinese that add me to their list on Skype

So you have no evidence you can actually present to this debate.  You're just speculating and your comment about this site being predominately Western is a meaningless statement.

Well, I'm interested in wheather this belief is a reflection of certain cultures.

But I'll me ex to do a search in Chinese and see what she finds. See if there are forums of this nature in chinese?

Remember...I asked a question to what seemed to me. I did not state

Perhaps you could make up for it by sharing some more racist remarks against the people of Iran.
