I love you all and admire your enthusiasm, but Pez, Gayer, Smokey and Gotham have not responded, and I have PM'd them, so hold that exuberance and I will remember.

I reluctantly pick cabin 5, where I will sulk (once fully awake), because I'm not captain. Should have paid more attention in space ship flying school I guess.

I had a dream last night that the game had started, that's what alerted me. I think the email alert for PMs goes to my old email address or spam or something.

I think the action period for one day should be one week. Because pez and smoker rarely enter the forum and this may help them get enough participation if one day lasts a week. I'm not sure, it seems logical to me.

I'm in a dream right now where I say this, lol.

Okay, my hyperbaric chamber had a slight malfunction or was sabotaged,  and I overslept. It just released me. I'm awake. Not wide awake, but awake.

I'm not fussy with whatever cabins are left, but I like the look of the first cabin I see upon waking. Can I have cabin 8 please?

Okay, as medic, I'm responsible for patching people up. We have plenty of burn cream for those caught in any nasty explosions. We have plenty of oxygen to go around. I'm the guy with the tweezers for any ingrown hairs or toenails. Hopefully not too many of us stub our toes in this weightless environment when floating around in zero g. Just checking, being in space, we do only have Zero G, right?

As medic, I will be emphasizing dynamic tension exercises to keep strength in our muscles. There is a risk of blood pooling and constipation due to sedentary aka laziness.

Should I mention the elephant in the space craft?

Wait a minute, am I just having a lucid dream, and am still asleep in my sleep pod? It seems so real!

Okay, welcome smokey, I’m going to message Pez but start without him, if he doesn’t turn in, he was starved of oxygen while sleeping and is a virtual zombie.

Things are slightly different in this game to usual werepenguin games due to the size of the pool and the way it starts. When you wake you are not aware of there being any danger so there is no lynching. But as soon as shit starts to happen, night or day, you can start to vote, the Captain as previously mentioned picks the sentence and gets casting vote if there is a tie.

Pay attention to what I write and what I have written, there will be twists.

On waking Crouton goes to the pod with the flashing red light and reads the display.
It Says,

Pod under isolation protocol 7749SS1.
Do not open.
Communicate with MU-TH-UR-FKR 6000

He reports it to the captain and they go to the computer room as Mother doesn’t seem to be responding to voice, what she says is below.

Mothers story.

As far as is possible for an AI, Mother seems distressed.
Her memory has been corrupted, all internal camera hardware has been burnt out, the ship is off course for no reason she can find, and she is struggling with glitches in most systems, but she is not without resources.

The Nostrillo is still far from the solar system, nearly 6 light years, you are leaving a debris field orbiting a Red dwarf called Barnard’s Star on a heading for Earth.
Telemetry suggests the star to be in a periodic episode of intense Stellar Flares and it was this she initially attributed the damage to, however residual temperature fluctuations from both the shuttle-bay and the locked down pod suggest otherwise, as does the specific nature of the damage.

She is 99.9% sure that Ash, the Science officer had woken from deep-sleep and had at some time accessed and flew the shuttle, subsequently destroying the evidence and returning to his pod.
Further to this, the ambient temperature readings of the sleeping craft having not changed from the running temp of -50◦C and lack of evidence in any of the air scrubbers of respiration, suggest that no human had been up during that time, although this data could have been tampered with, it would have meant ongoing interference with the gauges since her reboot, something she considers virtually impossible without detection.

Mother has concluded that Ash is a synthetic saboteur, he had been dropped into the crew at the last minute after the original science officer was incapacitated on leave, and while Synthetics do help crew ships, especially deep space incursions, they never do so without the knowledge of the crew and ships AI.

As such, she has identified Ash as a danger to the crew and mission and has isolated him as best she can and revived the crew to investigate.

Damn it, this is an unexpected disaster! Mother’s systems are flickering and failing as if caught in a cosmic storm. We need to dive into the shadows and unravel the truth behind this chaos.

This is precisely the kind of havoc a saboteur would unleash! Ash, the enigmatic Science Officer, may not be what he seems. According to Mother’s whispers, he might be a synthetic saboteur, a hidden threat among us. We must isolate him and solve this puzzle.

As the Chief Engineer, I am desperately trying to reach the Captain and resolve these system failures. Our situation is critical and requires immediate attention.

Prepare yourselves, crew. We’re on the brink of a critical decision. Gather your thoughts, weigh the evidence, and let’s chart our course with the wisdom of the stars. It’s time to convene and cast our votes. The fate of our mission is in our hands.

Suggest to the captain that she asks mother to see the raw data on this incident.

Also suggest the need to question Ash under a controlled setting.

Question.  Are synthetic organisms edible?  We don't know how long we're going to be here and I don't think Ash really needs his arms and legs.

Well despite my best attempts to fall back asleep and get back to my lovely dream about big gay eggs, I just cannot fall asleep so I will get up and go to the canteen. Feeling rather peckish after all that sleep, going to see what grub there is.

Mother provides the data, which largely consists of heat signatures from the fire control system still showing small but statistically important residual heat from the shuttle and Ash's pod after Mother rebooted, set against ambient temperatures from all other rooms, plus an analysis of particulates and chemicals from all air scrubbers from before and after her crash and reboot that exhibit no discernable gain, leading to a probability of 99.99% that no human came out of hypersleep during that time.

Mother also councils against the release of Ash on the grounds that as his pod telemetry is showing him as human, this is plausibly corrupt too, and as she surmises that he is a synthetic sleeper agent, his protocols could well include vastly augmented strength and reaction times easily capable of overwhelming any and all humans short of a full marine platoon.
Supplementary to this, If Ash is an android there is next to nothing that you could do to coerce him.

Her conjecture is that his reason for a trip in the shuttle was to effect the collection of something, that item or items are aboard the ship somewhere, and whereas a very small component could conceivably be in his pod, for the reasons above, all other areas of search should be investigated before him.

I will have a look around Mother and the bridge. Then we should all meet at the hatch and examine the shuttle bay.

Understood, Captain. Though this reality may feel like a fleeting dream, we must navigate its mysteries with unwavering resolve. I will delve into the enigmatic systems and equipment on the bridge, as guided by Mother’s whispers. Even in this surreal realm, every clue holds significance. I’ll return with my findings, and together we shall unravel the veils of this strange journey. Let’s proceed with care and keep our senses as sharp as Biden as we seek the truth within this shadowy voyage.

Um, I don't mean to state the obvious, but if Ash is the science officer, working in the med lab alongside me, is it not possible Ash collected some biological sample off-ship and brought it to the med lab? As medical officer, I will conduct a search of the lab, and run an audit of all samples and make sure anything from off-ship has been suitably isolated. This is the concern, especially that Ash appears to have tried to cover his tracks. Maybe the ship was under attack while we were all sleeping, or maybe Ash with his scientific curiosity decided to do something reckless?

If Ash is indeed a cyborg or synthetic human, the ultrasound and x-ray machines in the lab, should reveal his non-human attributes. I know he is in quaranteen, but can he be safely sedated and brought into the med lab for testing? I presume Ash is under guard with an officer armed with a raygun.  We may need to restrain him, or use a sleep pod on wheels to convey him in, under heavy sedation to the med lab for examination.

Let's find out how human Ash is, forthwith. Then, we can devise the best method of interrogation. In the med lab, we do have truth serum, but that only works on humans.

Augmented strength is a concern.  But I have a solution.  Cut his arms and legs off.  He's an android so this shouldn't be an issue. We'll also find out pretty quickly if he's human or not.

Either way we get some tasty arms and legs in case food runs low.

Bridge search reveals nothing of note.

Med-bay, seems to be just as you left it.

Available data on synthetics, runs the gamut from human comparable body types to combat compatible monsters, not always apparent by body shape.

Sedation isn't an option. Human interaction help bots can be asked politely to turn themselves off, combat androids can be neutralised with the appropriate command procedures which you do not have or an overload of electrical charge which if sufficient to incapacitate usually fries circuits and slags them, obviously if this was applied and Ash was human it would be fatal, as would removal of limbs.

The pods are fixed but the canopy is clear polycarbonate, and shows a frosted Ash.
Mother would like to add, that with the available data listed above she is as certain as she could be that Ash is an android and potentially too dangerous to be allowed any chance of freedom.

Rayguns are not issued on commercial space craft.
