Had an Earthquake in Utah not too long ago.  Not nearly as strong as this one.  What's interesting is how noisy it is inside a house when this happens.  All of the lumber that makes up the house starts scraping against itself.

My city never gets earthquakes. Certainly not ones that you can feel anyway

I've experienced a handful. Though nothing like a 7+.

They had a 2nd quake of ~7.6. Was not an 'aftershock' although they have had many of those already. Looking at over 1500 dead, over 5000 injured so far and orders of magnitude more going to be left homeless for the winter

It's probably not even over  :(

The death toll is climbing. Eye opener for us Americans. I guess we shouldn’t complain about strict building codes for earthquake areas.

My city never gets earthquakes. Certainly not ones that you can feel anyway

In Oregon there are very small earthquakes sometimes but you can't feel them.

I don't donate blood for some principled reasons.

I am wise, I am safe, safe is wise, safe is me. How can it be anything else? I don't know what you mean, anyway.

I wonder what those are given donating blood is acceptable in Islam which you supposedly follow. Maybe it's helping others you're against?

Regular blood donations are also healthy for you. Men especially as we don't bleed out half to death one week every month. Good way to reduce iron levels too. I can't fathom why the hesitation unless you are gay and your regressive government policies forbid you to donate because of that

This looks like nearly an entire city block, turned to rubble, and supposedly this was from before the second quake hit. This is insanely tragic.

3,500 dead now.

I get the impression that these buildings are still in the process of collapsing.  They might have a situation where any building taller than a few stories is now unsafe to use.

There's that, and then there's the likelihood of more aftershocks still to come. I just looked on the USGS site and they've had 4 major earthquakes today listed at 6.0 or above.

Are you saying that erdogan rigged all those buildings to collapse in a false flag attack?

I guess not.  However I suspect we'll be hearing a lot of stories about how many of those buildings didn't meet building standards for an earthquake zone due to developers paying off authorities.    How much we will hear will probably depend on how well connected to the AKP they are...

So apparently there could be as many as 184K people under the rubble. Holy fuck. Thousands of buildings destroyed. Many thousands more most likely rendered uninhabitable and millions affected

Entire city blocks just reduced to rubble.

The death toll is going to be shocking. 100K+ not unlikely given the amount trapped under rubble
