Your Halloween night
« on: November 02, 2022, 08:46:49 AM »
It was pouring rain here - thankfully. Means less people knocking on doors trying to harass people for lollies. Thankfully NO ONE came by my house

In the letterbox I had received a note with a balloon saying if I wanted to participate to attach the balloon so they knew to come by. I put the balloon straight in the bin. It was not packaged so as if I'm putting something to my mouth some stranger could have kept it in their undies for a day collecting ball sweat first. No thanks!

I saw a few people braving the rain - no costume (unless the umbrella counts) and there were no decorations that I saw around my neighbourhood. So that's Halloween in Canberra. Obviously America does Halloween best so how did it pan out for you?

This Halloween saw the rise of the 12 foot skeletons. They are taking over. Normal sized skeletons are no longer sufficient.

It was a better Halloween than the previous 2.  It felt about normal, not like people changing their behavior for covid. A decent haul for the kids. Several full size candy bars. One house even gave out entire boxes of Swedish fish.

got ripped off buying two pumpkins from a pick your own farm, carved them (pic to follow), made soup (see cooking thread) and it lashed it down and nobody came round (TBH we're a bit out of the village and over grown), so I have a plastic cauldron full of sweets left, might put my long coat and jeepers creepers hat on and walk round the village offering them to school kids, see if I can create a panic.

I would recommend calming their anxieties by loudly announcing that it's not laced with fentanyl.

I don't get trick or treaters here. I think they all take their kids to the suburbs.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Halloween in our London neighbourhood is the local kids out with their parents (or nannies) - it's all very middle class and genteel.  There were some pretty cool outfits - people put some work (and money) into them.

If you don't put the decorations out (like a pumpkin) you don't get a knock, which is nice.

Not like when I were a lad in Hull - there would be fireworks getting chucked about, dogshit on fire, all sorts of criminal stuff.

Halloween isn't a thing here (except apparently in some parts of Helsinki) so I just watched Hocus Pocus 2 with the kids and made beetroot soup for when my bloke came home from evening shift - trying to blend it ended up with the kitchen looking like a murder scene, red soup everywhere, so was very fitting for Halloween.

Cheers.

I kind of had to post them here, they'd been in the window a few days but we have a drive so not really noticable from the road, we would have put them out on the night but it was blowing a hoolie, so the candles would have gone out, apart from the fun of carving they were wasted.

Did you use the insides to make a pie or something?

Rained.  While there were a few trick or treaters, they were mostly teens and still ended up with a ton of left over candy.   I think most parents are opting to move away from house to house and instead do School or Church sponsored Trick or Trunk, or something like a community based trick or treat at a Mall or shopping center.

Of course, there are the weirdos that make Halloween everyday, and see no issue with taking their young children to Story Time Drag Shows.
