One thing that’s often heard on this forum not just from flat earthers but from others is the reluctance to accept expert opinion favouring instead working things out for oneself or free thinking as it could be called.
Will those ‘free thinkers’ be forming an opinion on this while checking out the validity of the the experts claims:-
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/oct/31/small-wonder-big-dna-advances-loom-at-university-startup-oxford-nanoporeOr how about double checking the calculations made of this celestial bodies orbit.
https://www.theguardian.com/science/2022/nov/01/huge-planet-killer-asteroid-discovered-and-its-heading-our-wayOr will there be some flat earthers especially those who rubbish the work of Newton have found an alternative way of calculating the orbits of heavenly bodies. There may even be some free thinking flat earthers who claim such bodies don’t exist.
The question is what is the actual limit of free thinking. How far can it take you or is it all just an excuse for the ignorant to make stuff up?
Is the distrust and rejection of experts and expert knowledge just a convenient way of justifying alternative views or just plan BS? Like this one:-
“The bitter (yet still hilarious) irony about all of this is that people like Newton, Copernicus, Einstein, and Hawking have been paving over reality for centuries”
In one fell swoop based on no more than their own free thinking crass ignorance about aircraft flight that poster consigned four of the most brilliant minds that have ever lived to the intellectual dustbin!
Is free thinking just an excuse for the ignorant to make stuff up or can one really validate scientific knowledge. If so what have YOU validated recently or even discovered?
