Unfortunately, with Netanyahu's coalition of nationalist arseholes on one side and the rise of Hamas extremists on the other, attempts to resolve the Palestinian situation died out some time ago.  Eventually leading to this whole disaster.  I don't think the current US administration is particularly happy about it, and they are clearly doing a lot behind the scenes to try to calm things down.   Putin is probably laughing his arse off though.

It goes beyond my dislike for Putin. Watching interviews with politicians, especially a country's leader, is pretty frustrating. The interviewer is afraid to push them and the politician ends up saying nothing interesting.

There was an interview between lex Friedman and Benjamin netanyahu a few months ago. This was before Oct 7.  It was so softball that I just didn't get anything out of it.

I expect the blame for the war dragging out will be put to the feet of the US and Europe who keeps aiding Ukraine.

Also expect at least one mention of how they wouldn't have attacked if Trump was president.

There are people suggesting Tucker should be banned from the EU for this interview, which is fucking crazy. Journalists and talking heads have been interviewing the bad guys for decades. It used to be considered a scoop to be able to sit down and interview a dictator.

The Gonzalo Lira situation was an interesting example of Russian disinformation.

They presented it as an American journalist who was imprisoned by Ukraine for criticizing the government and then died in prison under mysterious circumstances.  Tucker Carlson and Elon Musk amplified it.  Even some half way respectable youtube news channels picked up on it.

The reality is he ran a pickup artist youtube channel.  He lived in Eastern Ukraine, I think it had something to do with prostitution.  He was arrested for sending information on Ukrainian troop movements to Russia.  The circumstances of his death are still a little unclear but in the last thing he wrote he said he had really bad pneumonia and was probably going to die soon.  Being in a prison in a war zone during the winter time when the Russians are constantly taking the power grid offline probably didn't help.
