but whne you give up your stores, you get to buy more.
it's like rich teenager female "i donated all my clothes to charity! (so i could get all new fashions)"
just like rich countries dumping their excess covid vax on the poor ones.
oh how gratious of you....
i assume NATO has an obligation to keep XYZ amount of gear.
We don't actually. Really. Look into what we've actually given them. Most of it is stuff we cleared out of museums or stuff we would never use in a war.
The newer stuff we've been giving them is artillery. We're not a military built around artillery. It's just an afterthought. We're an air power. We establish air superiority, bomb everything that looks hostile and then send in the tanks.
We could just not replenish anything we've sent Ukraine and it really wouldn't have an impact on us. This might explain why the stocks of defense contractors haven't actually changed that much.
i hthink my gov't sent some howizters.
didn't some swedes or someone leave a bunch of fighter jets and forgot to lock the cockpit?
antitank antiaircraft rockets? ("javelins"?)
didn't usa give a bunch of drones?
those can't've been "old" gear.
We have given them no fighter jets. That was a misunderstanding.
The artillery we're sending them is about 30 years old. Some of the ordnance is somewhat advanced.
We've given them some toy drones, not the real deal like the predator or Grey hawk.
Stinger missiles are about 40 years old. There's no reason to replace them. We have better equipment that takes that role.
Javelins are fairly modern. But this is one of those weapons we make for other countries. It's not something we would use in a war all that much.
The NASAMs we've given them are some pretty good pieces of equipment. I don't see how anyone can object to those though. They're purely defensive.
