Great, now we're going to run out of wheat.

Just the news media being alarmist. Wheat grows in the summer months, so this time of year it's always at a low.  It will go back up after the harvests.  It's lower than normal but nowhere enough to panic over, and it's not going to run out.

Of course now people WILL panic and cause a shortage no doubt.

Ukraine isn't that large of a country. You would think others could pick up the short fall?

You'd think but no.
What I've learned from chip shortages, gas shortages, etc... is that our entire supply line is razor thin.  Companies are making exactly as much as they have demand for and nothing more.  And there are very few companies actually making this stuff.

Example: My dad works at a glasses lense factory.  There's only a few factories in the world from this company and yet they make some 40-50% of all eye glass lenses.

Monopolies aren't a thing but the "almost" monopoly is and its fucking up our supply redundancy considerably.
Gone.

There are several factors that will cause a wheat shortage. The war, and drought in India. This article says 12% of the world's wheat comes from Ukraine https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/5/19/un-hopes-to-restore-ukraine-grain-exports-amid-global-food-crisis which doesn't seem like much, but if India is also not exporting grain, that could add up. The US probably won't run out of wheat, but probably some other countries will suffer.

Quote
The UN says 36 countries count on Russia and Ukraine for more than half of their wheat imports, including some of the poorest and most vulnerable in the world, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lebanon, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen.

The rest of us will be okay, but idk if these countries can take it.

They can.  If there is any shortage it will simply be because idiots panic and start hoarding.  It's a problem, but it's not going to be worldwide starvation unless people are dumb. Oh crap.

The telegraph seems solid from what I've seen of them on Youtube.

Grain will be a problem like oil will be a problem. It's not goint to run out but it'll be more expensive for a while. It's not a problem here. Just a lot of people bitching because they have to pay 1$ for a box of cereal.

The real problem will be for the nation's that already can barely afford to feed themselves.

lol, if the world turned to shit and supermarkets no longer existed or had food left, there is probably enough food in my house to ration a years supplies worth for 2 adults and 2 kids. Lots of cereals, protein powder bags, rice, pasta, oats, some tinned food and even supplements (the supplements could stretch to years). This is just my pantry on a normal day. (I'm a sucker for half price specials :))

During the panic buying of covid, I saw one lady emptied several shelves of pasta and her trolley was over flowing with it lol. I bet she still has over half a trolleys worth left lol

This article has been trending off and on all day.

It's sensationalist.

It's also ten weeks before harvests.  It's how things work, you harvest wheat and get a years worth and when that year is up you harvest more.  So ten weeks before harvest it's not at all unusual to have low stocks.

That said, yeah the Ukraine war is going to impact things but it's nothing the world can't handle. If we choose to.

And then there's the "volunteers" rocking up to the border or train stations in countries that the refugees are arriving in, trying to get women (and probably children too tbh) to take them to brothels. There needs to be a lot more oversight with refugees, they are very vulnerable. And there needs to be a lot less demand from disgusting men so that pimps are less inclined to supply.

The Russians are stealing everything they can lay their hands on,  Steel, Grain,  Equipment,  looting household goods.   Murdering and raping civilians.

Russia is not a country anymore, it's nothing more than a criminal enterprise.

Quote
Dramatic video has captured the moment a Russian surface-to-air missile system fires on itself in a bizarre malfunction.

In the footage, the missile can be seen shooting into the sky - before turning mid-air and slamming back into where it came from in an enormous explosion.

The short clip was reportedly shot in the Ukrainian city of Alchevsk in the Luhansk region, which is under the occupation of pro-Russian separatist forces and is on the front line of the war in Ukraine.

It was filmed in the early hours of Friday morning when Russian troops reportedly launched a missile to intercept an oncoming Ukrainian plane.

However, seconds later, the missile was returned to sender after the tracking system went haywire.

The video shows a huge explosion as well as bright flashes shooting down from the crash site.

Local reports claim a fire erupted at the site not far from residential buildings.

Some have claimed that Russia‘s own anti-air defence systems may have interfered.

The clip was originally shared on the messaging app Telegram by the channel Face of War, which has posted similar footage since the start of the conflict.

It was also shared by Rob Lee, Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, who tweeted: “This is reportedly footage of a failed Russian air defence system missile launch from Alchevsk, Luhansk Oblast.”

The exact type of SAM system seen in the footage hasn‘t been confirmed, however, a Russian S-400 missile system costs around $300 million each.

There is no news yet on any casualties suffered in the blast.

It is the latest example of Putin’s army’s equipment horrifically malfunctioning.

Earlier today, a Russian military plane crashed killing four en route to the war in Ukraine.

The Ilyushin-76 military cargo transporter burst into flames after refuelling before plummeting to earth in the city of Ryazan 125 miles southeast of Moscow.

Three people were killed in the crash while a further passenger died at hospital.

The remaining four passengers are being treated at hospital, where their conditions are said to be “grave”.

Russian soldiers were filmed complaining about their shoddy equipment back in April, as Putin‘s forces face heavy losses.

If all the liberated people are dead from Russian bombardment, problem solved. Russia will just import new people.
