Yeah, I have that same worry. People will so easily forget that ordinary people don't have control over governments or dictators (or viruses!).

I think it is wrong to give in to these demands. It sort of gives people the idea it's the right thing to do. I don't know.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

I remember when we kicked off the war on terror that George W made it a point to clarify that our targets were the terrorists, not the religion of Islam or the civilians.  I mean, it didn't quite work out like that but still it was a good speech.

We definitely don't want to piss off the Russian people more than we have to.

New York’s Russian Restaurants Feel War’s Impact

Most owners are antiwar, and many of them are from Ukraine. But customer numbers are down all the same.

After Russia invaded Ukraine, Sveta, a small restaurant in the West Village known for its Instagram-friendly cocktails and hearty Russian fare like borscht, received a plethora of negative emails. One simply said, “Go Home.”

That would have been difficult for Sveta Savchitz, who is 64 years old and moved here from Ukraine in 1993. More than 25 years later, when she and her son, Alan Aguichev, opened the restaurant, they decided to market it as Russian because they thought it would have more name recognition. “It’s very similar cuisine-wise,” Mr. Aguichev said. “The main difference is whoever is cooking the food.”

...

“People have kicked in our door at night,” said Vlada Von Shats, the matron of Russian Samovar, a family-owned Russian piano bar in Midtown known for its flavored vodkas, caviar and red chandeliers. “We have people on the telephone calling us Nazis.”

Ms. Von Shats is Russian, and her husband is Ukrainian. Their three adult children, who are all involved in the restaurant, identify as both. Most of Samovar’s staff is from Ukraine; one of the musicians had a niece who died in the violence last weekend. Russian employees are vocal about their opposition to the invasion.

This is so annoying  >:(

If there was a Russian restaurant anywhere around here I would go and have dinner.

I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Is this his idea of Russian strength and security?

What's our resolve?
At this moment Nato is pumping in anti aircraft and anti tank missiles into this war, degrading Russian forces, bleeding it slowly.

Russia can and will attempt to weaken the resolve of the west by picking on the civilians, but if we do this macho thing you seem to want, many more civilians all across Europe and Russia will die.
We are where we are, whether this is partly the west's fault as well as Putins, I would say yes, but it needs to be contained where it is, as horrible as that may get for the unfortunate Ukrainians, we have to avoid WWIII.
At some point as Vlad sees how much he's struggling, he may no longer see the distinction between countries gifting Ukraine with all the weapons, money and even regular plebs joining the fight in Ukraine and killing Russians with it vs NATO involvement and demand that stop. If/when that happens I hope we will keep that resolve.

Why is the world not curb stomping Puto?

Money?  Yep, priorities.

The short answer, nuclear missiles.

The slightly longer answer, a wise man once said that the greatest impediment to understanding the decisions made in our past is that we know their future.
OMG buddy, San Diego is home to Nuclear Aircraft Carriers.
Who disappears first when Puto starts to not get it's way?

One of the more level headed assessments of the situation.

I agree that of course Ukraine should go for peace if they can agree to the two "republics" breaking off and Crimea going to Russia (lets face it, they are never getting any of that back).  However is that deal even on the table?

Not sure why its inappropriate. The guy's been dead about 128 years. Now if he were alive and salivating over dead Ukrainian civilians and shouting 'death to the west', well sure.

I guess it's just a big middle finger to Putin. He wanted to make Russia 'strong'. But all this virtue signalling nonsense collectively shows that Russia is weak, pathetic, disrespected and utterly hated. Putins legacy for Russia.

The deal I've heard is that Ukraine gives Crimea to Russia and recognizes Donbass as it's own country.  They add a constitutional amendment to stay neutral and they also disarm their country.

I really don't get the impression that this is a serious deal.  I think if they took this deal that Russia would immediately resume the invasion of Ukraine.

If it were just Crimea and Donbass, that still seems like a strange deal.  Russia more or less had those.  It would mean that this entire invasion yielded him nothing.  Maybe Putin would agree to this deal just to save face.

Why is it that people get incensed by YT "censorship". (not saying you, SCG, I mean the twitter poster) The "We believe the public should decide what it sees, not Google execs," bullshit. Do people not realize that Google is a for profit company that can make editorial decisions regarding any and all of their content? That's it's not subject to the "people's" approval? The only sway the peoples have is to not use the service. Plain and simple. I'm tired of the whining.

And yeah, now all I want to do is watch the damn thing to find out why YT punted it. It's the best publicity Oliver could have gotten.

Well, the people incensed by YouTube censorship, in this case, are Rumble. lol

BUT, Google does have too much power over what is allowed on the internet, and I am glad there are more places to go now. Before the alternative sites were a bit dodgy, but Rumble has a great user interface, and Odysee is a bit weird, but also has a good interface. Of course Rumble is criticized for being rightwing, but there's all kinds of content on there.
