The biggest threat facing America today is not China or Russia. They need to look inward and see the biggest threat is themselves.

Groups like Patriot Front, Atomwaffen, Oath Keepers, Boogaloo and Proud Boys etc are already pretty active and in a mind state of guerilla warfare

https://www.gao.gov/assets/gao-23-104720.pdf?bcsi_scan_ca771ec442c8a239=0&bcsi_scan_filename=gao-23-104720.pdf

In 2013 there were 1981 domestic terror incidents. In 2021, it was 9049

The bastard thing is, a lot of people aren't considering these terror attacks as those committed by terrorists. They think these people are patriots

America is fucked. Royally. It is honestly going to take your country going to rack and ruin before you get your shit together. So maybe having Trump get elected and totally fuck shit up is what is needed. It will be a bitter pill to swallow but too many people in America today have never lived through a civil war, dictators, fascists etc. Just like Germany with it's Hitler and Nazi party, you guys need a Trump and the new brand of Repugnican party.

Too all the good hearted and intelligent people in America - good luck getting though it.

Texas Governor seeks pardon for man found guilty of murder by jury

https://www.npr.org/2023/04/10/1168974403/texas-greg-abbott-pardon-daniel-perry
Quote
One day after a jury convicted U.S. Army Sgt. Daniel Perry of murder for shooting and killing Garrett Foster at a Black Lives Matter protest in 2020, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said he wants Perry to receive a pardon.

Perry, 35, hasn't been sentenced yet, but the state pardons and parole board is already starting to review his case, at Abbott's request.

"I am working as swiftly as Texas law allows regarding the pardon of Sgt. Perry," Abbott said over the weekend, via Twitter.

Here's a recap of the case and what is happening now:
What happened between Foster and Perry?

Foster and Perry encountered each other at a street protest on July 25, 2020 — about two months into national protests over the police killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.

Perry, who was stationed at Ft. Hood, was in downtown Austin working as an Uber driver that night when he turned onto a street crowded with protesters, including Foster. Both men were carrying firearms legally.

Foster, 28, was carrying an AK-47 at the protest, which he attended with his fiancée. Perry was armed with a revolver — and as Foster approached Perry's car, Perry shot him repeatedly.

Witnesses said Perry was driving dangerously close to protesters; they also said Foster didn't raise his weapon toward Perry. But the defense team said Perry feared for his life, and that Foster had raised his gun. Prosecutors said Perry instigated the incident after running a red light.

A Travis County jury convicted Perry of murder on Friday.

Why does Abbott want to exonerate Perry?

The governor didn't go into detail about why he believes Perry should be pardoned, but he cited Perry's attorney's explanation that Perry shot Foster in self-defense.

"Texas has one of the strongest 'Stand Your Ground' laws of self-defense that cannot be nullified by a jury or a progressive District Attorney," Abbott said.

So in Red America, the party of 'law and order' will attempt to pardon you after being convicted of murder by a jury

Weren't repugnicans all about 2A rights? The party of law and order?

Isn't the point of a judicial system, judge and jury to keep politics out of it?

So the governor, is endorsing that someone can be shot for carrying a gun in public (as permitted by Texas law), nullify a jury verdict and vilify the judge.

You have to wonder if this would happen if the person who died was a white nationalist 'white lives matter' protestor and not a 'black lives matter' protestor. America is fucked. It's shit like this why BLM exists. The value of life is shown to be worthless. Hopefully the review shuts down the request and the guy gets sentenced

The green light to murder people based on being scared has been lit. The precedent has been set. As long as you claim 'self defense', you can get off.

Of course Fucker Carlson had a sook about it too. He's okay with people killing protestors he doesn't like. American society is a tinderbox waiting to explode. So full of hate and lethal contempt for one another

So this massive military "intelligence" leak, including critical information on the Ukraine war, might just have been about bragging rights for a bunch of arseholes?

Quote
Teixeira is believed to have been the leader of an online chat group where hundreds of photographs of secret and top-secret documents were first uploaded, from late last year to March. The online group called itself Thug Shaker Central, made up of 20 to 30 young men and teenagers brought together by an enthusiasm for guns, military gear and video games. Racist language was a common feature of the group.

Former members of Thug Shaker Central have told the investigative journalism organisation Bellingcat, the Washington Post and the New York Times that the documents were shared in an apparent attempt to impress the rest of the group, rather than to achieve any particular foreign policy outcome.

I think this warrants a whole new crime of Moronic Treason, with a maximum sentence of having the brain dissected for scientific study.

Agreed.  There's just one thing bothering me though.  Why did this guy have access to all this information?  This stuff is supposed to be compartmentalized, need to know etc.  A 21 year old air guardsman needs to know this stuff?  Seems very odd to me.

In response to a niggling thought on the responses of US citizens to bad press about their country, (not so much here now that Tom has thankfully fucked off), I looked up what country had the highest opinion of itself.

YouGov, an international online market research company based in the UK surveyed 19 countries around the world and asked a variety of questions.
When asked “Is my country the best country in the world?” unsurprisingly the nation that forces its children to pledge allegiance to its flag every morning came top, with 41% saying yes. Third for some completely inexplicable reason was the doorstep to hell, Australia, with 34% sun addled idiots presumably not understanding the question.

The UK after 12 years of conservatives selling off the family jewels were ninth, with 13% managing to pull themselves away from reruns of “Dad’s Army” and sipping warm pints of John-Bull to use their bingo dabbers to vote while muttering about fighting them on the beaches. The majority opting for “My country is as good as most others,” showing an astonishing level of optimism, all thing considered.
While the self-hating French, understandably drew with the Germans at 5% at the bottom, lower than Vietnam.

The Scandie countries, arguably the best places to live, were about the same level or lower in their patriotism than us.

So my question is this America, with your children more liable to be mown down in the playground by incels than reach working age, to a job that doesn’t include holidays, sick pay, maternity leave, or wages that barely constitute as functionally enough unless augmented by the tip system, and under constant threat of being forced into bankruptcy if you break your ankle, how is it possible that so many believe you are born in Shangri la?
I need your help to understand.

We have been fed a steady diet of US propaganda our entire lives. The internet is breaking through all that a bit, but it doesn't change overnight, and they use all the techniques learned from marketing so there will always be people who think this way.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

I would guess a lot of it has to do with how independent this country is in every sense of the word. We're massive, we own most of the land mass we're on. Our country is so big with so much variance in geography and culture that there's less of an incentive to travel to another country to see something new.

We're also, normally, the center of the universe. We don't pay much attention to the politics in other countries since it usually doesn't affect us much. I've always found it a little surprising that every other country follows our politics so closely. I understand why but it's like if you lived in a neighborhood for years and you keep running into reminders that you're the star of the Truman Show.

So I think maybe on an emotional level some of us don't quite think that we're the best country, we think that we're the only country.

As far as the best country though, I don't know, I think there's a lot to like about Australia. I don't think they'd be too far down the list objectively.

I think the international friends you have is going to depend on where you live. If you live in a place that doesn't have a lot to offer, probably none, but other places will have lots. If you live in Florida, for example, you could possibly know many people from many places, but most likely you will have Mexican and Cuban friends or acquaintances. If you lived in NYC or LA you could have friends from everywhere.

I'm your international friend!

Back on the YouGov poll thingy, it was done in 2016 and one of the questions was who would you rather was the president of the USA, Hilary or the Trump (Yes Crouts, we do spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about your politics, in much the same way as kindergarten kids watch the preternaturally huge monster toddler devoid of social skills.), not one, including the US participants, had Trump as the frontrunner.
