Guess I'll watch. Morbid curiosity

Spoken like a true believer.

You dont think he'll end up in a fiery death? Accidents can happen you know

Did you not see the mythbusters episode where they disproved the Chinese claim that some Emperor added rockets to his chair and blasted off into space?

Putting aside the fact that there is not enough air to breathe up there and the rather frigid temperatures, it doesn't look like he would have been able to go more than a few metres in the air before burning himself to hell

Quote
Early in the sixteenth century, Wan decided to take advantage of China's advanced rocket and fireworks technology to launch himself into outer space. He supposedly had a chair built with forty-seven rockets attached. On the day of lift-off, Wan, splendidly attired, climbed into his rocket chair and forty seven servants lit the fuses and then hastily ran for cover. There was a huge explosion. When the smoke cleared, Wan and the chair were gone, and was said never to have been seen again.

My guess was he was incinerated. Now Branson is strapping his arse to a seat with far more explosives......

1. How do you know the story of the Chinese Monarch is actually true? Were you there as a witness?  It may  just be another fairy story you have chosen to believe.

2. How do you know there is no air 'up there' have you personally 'there' to verify this?

3. How do you know the temperature of the upper reaches of the atmosphere is fudged, as you claim? Again have you been there?

Perhaps it is a fairy tale. Chinese claim it to be a legend. Lets roll with it anyway

The atmosphere gets thinner the higher up you go to the point you cant breathe. Plenty of people that climb Mt Everest can attest to this

I never said the air was 'fudged'. What does that even mean. I said it was frigid. When you sit on an airplane it gives you temperature readouts. It's also why planes fly at this altitude as it's most efficient

You really are ignorant aren't you?

You actually believe all those people who have climbed Everest?
Fudged, fridgid...it was a typo!

The point is you appear to suffer from selective expert opinion belief. What yardstick do you use to determine if one expert is correct and another is not? That is the real point of issue here.

You believe people who climb mountains but no those who work for NASA, or Astronomers or a number of other people. It makes no rational sense.

The question is how do you determine what expert opinion or knowledge to believe and what not to believe?

Ok so delayed 1.5 hours due to 'weather'. Watching the stream now and still no sign of anything happening 7 minutes past when it should have started.

Is Branson getting cold feet? He better suck it up because I literally watched 300K people stop viewing the feed

So they get a late night comedy host to host this lol. Is this a joke?

Some bimbo talking about how the crew will 'experience' space travel ROFL. Shifting the goal posts of where space begins because their 'rocket plane' cant get high enough. Just lower the bar of where space begins then ::)

They show us footage of their launch only after it launches. I guess they weren't entirely confident it would be a success. We will be seeing a delayed and clipped version of events. Fantastic ::)

Space has been long recognised as starting at the imaginary Kármán line. 100km high

This bimbo covering the feed is dumb. She said they would be 'outside the atmosphere'. For that, they would have to go even higher than the ISS or over 600 miles

She also gave me a laugh when she explained the reason for the delay in transmission trying to talk to Richard was because it 'had a long way to go'. They were just 25000 ft high. ::)

Looks like they got lucky and survived. In a multiverse where anything that can happen, does happen, there are many universes out there where they died

Literally 99% of the journey was done at altitudes any pleb goes in a commercial plane. A few seconds at an altitude that you could still stack 2 Mt Everests on top of each other before reaching the recognised boundary of space and then back down again.

Only a muppet would part with $250K for that 'experience'.

The whole broadcast was cringey marketing for Virgin.

Well, at least Jeff Besos will attempt a real space flight. Not this crappy half arsed attempt which was nothing but a marketing stunt for Virgin

Quote
In recent years, scientists have tried to determine a definitive ‘edge of space' through various studies of the atmosphere. In 2009, researchers at the University of Calgary designed and launched the Supra-Thermal Ion Imager, an instrument developed to measure the transition between the relatively gentle winds of Earth's atmosphere and the more violent flows of charged particles in space. According to their data, the edge of space begins at 118km (73 miles) above sea level.

Sigh. Here is the first time you said DVD when I clearly said Blu Ray...

You need some serious anger management counseling.

That was an impressively long rant, complete with big fonts and colors all because you're furious I said DVD instead of Blu-Ray? How long did it take you to work up all your righteous anger over my foul, evil disparagement of your fancy pants Blu-Ray by calling it a mere, inferior DVD? A more hideous and cruel utterance has nary been spoken! I am so deeply shamed. Surely there is an extra circle of hell just for me now.

I can just imagine the sweat pouring down your beet red face as you hammered your keyboard typing out your hatred for low quality DVDs that only those with inferior means use. Not you!

LOL

Anyways! It looks like he landed safely!

I find it sad your seething jealousy keeps you from enjoying this event like a normal person and instead have to rant about how much you hate him and claim it's fake and pout because you can't afford a ticket.

Dont pat yourself on the back. No ones in a blood rage which I'm sure you get kicks at the thought of. I pointed out an example of your trolling and how you dont actually read anybodies posts with any seriousness

Heres another example. I said I'd rather watch the photos from 'Earth from Space' because not only would they be better, but taken from much higher than Branson would get

Your take away? That the reason I'd enjoy the MiG29 flight more than the Virgin Galactic one is because the MiG29 wouldn't 'ruin my world view' because it doesn't go as high LOL

This is simply you wanting to follow your make believe narrative about people and never actually wanting to talk to them honestly. You're just a sad pathetic troll who gets a rise out of shitting with people. Perhaps because you have such low self esteem and want to feel superior to others so call them 'flat earthers' whether they are or not. Whatever man. Your shtick is getting old

A few days ago if you asked Google what the boundary of space was. It gave you the Kármán line of 62 miles (100km). Now you ask Google and it gives you a 50 mile (80km) before it goes on to the Kármán line

This is classic shifting of the goal posts lol

So you know that how?
According to NASA who unlike you have sent many people into space they have pegged the line at 262,000ft. Branson reached over 280,000ft. Therefore  snuck into space as far as NASA are concerned. You have a beef with that then take it up with them.

The issue here is that a private company did something extraordinary which is set to become common place.

Had you been around at the first powered flight, choose your winner, you would have no doubt sneered at that.

Today was a real milestone for space flight that may well become common place in a few years and where will that leave you and your FE pals?

Time to reflect or time to sneer?

So are you now actually admitting those 'Earth from Space' Blu-Ray's are real satellite footage from orbit and not CGI then? Progress... I'm impressed.

I find it pretty ironic that of all people, you are upset about someone being "a sad pathetic troll who gets a rise out of shitting with people".

Poe's law is strong here. Some days I think everything you say is an act, other days I think you really believe every word of it, including that "not pooping" is a better solution than designing a toilet.

Projection is strong with your post here too. Look at what you just wrote, and take a long look in the mirror.

Not you!

LOL

So you know that how?
According to NASA who unlike you have sent many people into space they have pegged the line at 262,000ft. Branson reached over 280,000ft. Therefore  snuck into space as far as NASA are concerned. You have a beef with that then take it up with them.

The issue here is that a private company did something extraordinary which is set to become common place.

Had you been around at the first powered flight, choose your winner, you would have no doubt sneered at that.

Today was a real milestone for space flight that may well become common place in a few years and where will that leave you and your FE pals?

Time to reflect or time to sneer?

I'd rather leave the definition of a space boundary to scientists. Not the US Airforce looking at the lowest possible bar to make the job of boasting easier

Why was today a milestone? Virgin galactic did the exact same flight in 2018.

Space flight being common place 'in a few years' has been said for many many years. It wont be common place in your life time. Not unless there's an actual purpose. (eg jobs/working in space) Having 99% of your flight time being at the same altitude a pleb can fly at and then a mere few seconds of being at 80km high will get old pretty quick. Even for rich billionaires

That Red Bull guy that skydived from 38km high. That was far more impressive IMO. He would have had an even better view of the Earth below than Branson looking out a porthole from 80km

I never said the photos were false to begin with. That idea is just an imagined narrative in your head and then going for it despite what you are told. Classic troll

Ok lets clear this up then, since you avoided directly answering the question I'll ask you explicitly.

1. Do you accept that the images in the Blu-Ray "Earth From Space" that are claimed to be taken from satellites in space, are indeed, taken from satellites in space?

Oh. I forgot, you're an Ameritard and need things spelled out very p-r-e-c-i-s-e-l-y

Ok. The blu ray of Earth from Space (which I own by the way - NOT the DVD :P) are beautiful photos captured by satellites above the Earth

Good to know. It's kind of hard to keep track of who believes what around here. I need to take notes.

Sorry about calling your Blu-Ray a DVD. I'm out of practice talking about that old physical tech. I don't even own a single Blu-Ray, and the last DVD I bought was Stargate Season 1 only so I could get it signed by the cast. :D

Oh no, quell disappointment.

And here I thought you were the only other intellectual around here and you admit openly to having without pressure being brought to bear like thumbscrews, watched Stargate!

Oh well Ill just have to go intellectually solo.

Fun fact, a Blu-ray is in fact a type of digital video disc, aka DVD.

How can you disparage Stargate. Look at who guest starred on the show.

Quality science, right there.
