So if someone took a picture of my shoe, I would have to automatically deny it's validity?

Cuz it looks like my shoe, I'm wearing that shoe, it must be my shoe. Prove to me it isn't my shoe or that my shoe doesn't look like it does in that picture.

Your reason for believing that it is your shoe was a bunch of proof that it is your shoe. So your example doesn't help your point at all.

Same thing applies to earth. We (RE's) know the basic characteristics of our lonesome planet, and we have pictures that reflect these characteristics, so prove to me that the images are fake.

I see your point, but when we have pictures of our planet in RE, there's a lot more characteristics shown, such as weather, light, reflections, etc. It helps to the validity of the images.

The image you posted only shows terrain, and sub-oceanic terrain. It's missing the other stuff.

That's very nice, but you didn't explain at all. How are they faked?

You see, there's this new thing called "Picture Editing Software" ...

Like Adobe Photoshop, Bryce 6, and many others.

No, no, no. What I'm saying is, I can go onto Google Earth and find a pretty detailed picture of my house. How is that possible outside of satellite technology? Does Google own a massive fleet of spy planes that takes pictures of every square inch of the world, or what?

They use planes as well as satellites. It's stated on their website.

Certainly, but I doubt it could be done using only planes. For example, don't you think Kim Jong-il would be a little unhappy about American planes flying all over North Korea?

Hara Taiki, once again you have reasons to accept that picture as true. You still have not shown why pictures should automatically be accepted as fact without reason.

And I don't care how real your picture looks. I know the Earth is flat because I have been to the ice wall.

I bet you automatically assumed that I was lying when I said that, right? So tell me, why is it that you are willing to accept a picture as fact when there is no evidence supporting it, but you will not accept a statement as fact when there is no evidence supporting it? What you are claiming just doesn't make sense.

To be honest, when the engineer says that he is a pilot, am I supposed to automatically believe him? I don't have to, but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt, especially since I have yet to see any credential's from him.

However, if he shows some credentials, maybe a few photos or videos of him flying, then I would be more inclined to believe him.

The same concept applies to RE photos. We have the credentials, and on top of that, photo's which even further support those credentials. So I'm more inclined to believe it.

Now, If I knew NOTHING about the earth, or even some common sense, I'd pretty much automatically go with RE, since I have no understanding, and everything that an RE says he can back up with photographic evidence, and that evidence doesn't have to even be of the earth itself.
