I have an odd situation at work.
« on: May 10, 2021, 12:21:12 AM »
So I've been working for my current employer about 3 years now.

Since I started working there, The guy who did the phone interview moved to another segment.  Three of the five people that conducted that 6 hour interview/rectal examination have transferred to difference departments.

Apparently this is common with mid level management.

Then today I find out my manager is retiring.  Which sucks for me since I like the guy.

This isn't much of a real problem since I have yet to work for someone here that's unresonable.  Everything is going well.  And yet since my social ties there just exploded I feel this odd urge to shop around jobs.

This isn't me ranting or soliciting advice exactly.  This is me being surprised that my first impulse would be to see what jobs are available.

Or, you could go all Medici, game of thrones on this.
While things are in flux, a word here and there, reputations ruined by whispers of “He/she was questioned about being at the capital building.” Poison (or laxatives) in a few coffees, poison (or laxatives) planted in desks, a few throats cut in the “restroom” and Bob's yer uncle, you are in charge.

Alas the work at home mandate has severely limited my ability to murder at work.  I have experimented with emailing very unsafe suggestions to specific coworkers but it has met with limited success.

Then you should have known some people so you know there addresses.
If you do go to there home and murder them in cold blood.
Do whatever you want but I would pick to torture them and rip them apart alive.
After that you cook them alive.
Then feed it to wild animals and make human skin gloves.

Just think of the high management turnover rate as an opportunity for advancement into management.

It would be a fabulous opportunity if I had any interest in management.

The best job would be managing the managers.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

The best job would be managing the managers for the racial sensitivity coaches.

You could make them read all the CRT books, and occasionally tell them to "do the work".

Managing engineers is like trying to herd cats.
The problem with managing engineers is that they're usually either managed by managers who don't understand engineering or by engineers who don't understand management.

The opportunity here is perfect. You become the department head, determine what your department's budget needs to be, get that approved, and immediately outsource all the responsibilities to your brand new firm, CCA - Crutonius Consulting Agency. Once engaged, the consulting firm will deliver satisfactory results at rates slightly exceeding the initially proposed budget, but it's all part of a very well drawn out statement of work and accordingly, easy enough to account for. And because of the great work you did delegating this project to a firm that had expertise in the area, thus saving your company from having to take on the overhead of hiring additional staff and all the expense that goes along with that, you can ask for a nice little bonus in addition to your regular wage, while also cashing the check for the real work they needed to accomplish.

This plan is flawless.

Absolutely genius.

Meh.  That saying has been around for a long time.  First time I heard it was in the early '80s and it was referring to managing programmers.

Herding cats sounds fun honestly. All you need is a box of treats that you shake and they will all sprint towards you. if that fails, catnip. Have you considered getting your underlings high?
