Wait for it, I'm sure the small print will come in time. This is Elon Musk we are talking about. I would be surprised if the $100 million were gifted to a winner with no strings attached.
Then why don't you wait for the fine print to be printed before assuming the worst?

While removing carbon from the air is great, I think we should be looking at eliminating or heavily reducing our reliance on emitting CO2 in the first place.
Isn't that what he's already doing at Tesla with the electric cars and solar roofs?

Electric cars while disparaging public transit and any electric vehicle that isn't a car (and thus would be more accessible to most people), while also encouraging crypto and mass-lithium mining.

It's just spin. He has a handful of things that, as a secondary effect, may have potential for environmental wellbeing, but he's not doing anything to make it practical for everyone nor does the rest of his behaviour line up with that idea. He's stuck in that teenage mindset of doing things because they seem cool, he just has the billions necessary to fund his childishness.

Or he's doing things because he knows that stupid people will spend lots of money to get them because they fit a popular fad, ideology, etc..  It's a rather lucrative business model.

Example:  I you have a house that at the time of purchase was valued at 500k, are you going to sell it for 350k because it would be better for others, or are you going to sell at teh market value of 600k.

When Musk was told to butt out of the rescue because he was not being helpful and when he was told that his stupid submarine wouldn't work he got all offended and retaliated by calling the rescue person a 'pedo guy'.

Elon Musk is a shit garbage human, unworthy of admiration. Who the F calls people risking their lives selflessly to help others pedophiles?

Elon Musk wins defamation case over 'pedo guy' tweet about caver
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50695593

Interesting. The defense used this "JDart" argument I've never heard of:

"One of the smartest moves by Elon Musk's defence was in introducing the concept of "JDart", an acronym to describe their client's conduct on Twitter in relation to the infamous "pedo guy" tweet.

A JDart, lawyer Alex Spiro explained, meant: a Joke that was badly received, therefore Deleted, with an Apology and then Responsive Tweets to move on from the matter. JDart."

Even more interesting, the Diver guy's attorney was none other than Lin Wood. Wow.
Basically he won because he's a billionaire.  Billionaires can say whatever the fuck they like about anyone, as that's THE LAW.

He never apologised or moved on. Apologies are for the little people.  He was emailing journalists telling them to look into him and his "child bride" (she was 30 when he married her) and insinuating other dodgy behaviour  .

Are you asking me as I am now, or a theoretical me with a net worth of $170 billion?

If you think that you will magically become generous because you have 170B, you are only fulling yourself.

Oh yeah, I agree. He totally got off because he's a billionaire/billebrity and kinda pulled out a version of "parody" defense often used to defend in defamation cases. I had just never heard of the JDart version and thought it was interesting and still kinda blown away by Lin Wood's involvement.

I can guarantee you I'd be much less concerned with turning a profit. Just because you'd hoard doesn't mean everyone else would. If I end up with $170 billion, I'm putting 10 mil in a savings account to live off of comfortably and spending the rest alternately on lawsuits against assholes that get away with everything, and on an elaborate scheme to convince New York it had been invaded by squids.

Can everyone please, PLEASE stop paying any attention whatsoever to these people who claim to have "estimated" the IQs of people who are not known to have taken IQ tests? They're pretty much throwing around random numbers.
From my words and actions I've estimated my own IQ to be over 400.

Using the same methodology Shifter came out at 42.  Sorry Shifter, but this is science and you can't argue with science.

OK but I just estimated my IQ to be over 9000 so now I obliterate you all with my mind rays. Another victory!

Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawkings IQ was estimated around 160. I wouldn't say Elons intellect, certainly in the field of science is anywhere near that level

He has money and is astute at business. If that is what he spends his 'genius' on, it means nothing to the world of science. Elon Musk's character and personality is disgusting. Who calls someone who risks their lives to save children a 'pedo'? Oh, Elon Musk does.

If Elon is so brilliant, he wouldn't need to outsource genius to inventing carbon capture. He'd be able to do the work himself.
