Why would the sun be round?

I believe that the sun is not round at all and it is our vision that perceives this
area of light as a ball as it converges to a point-
You could also tell that the sun is a big dot for our eyes due to this convergence in our eyesight-
The sun is like a sea of light, a luminous area -
There is no reason for it to be a perfectly round object-

I take it you have never looked at the Sun through a specialist solar telescope then? If you did then possibly your belief might be different.

The Sun is not a perfectly round object. It pulsates very slightly as the study of helioseismology has shown.  Some parts of the Suns disk show a red shift while other parts show a blue shift.  That is also one of the techniques we can use to learn something about the internal structure of the Sun even though we cannot see directly under the photosphere.  It's all described here

That's why I said specialist solar telescope. A telescope fitted with special filters that make solar observation perfectly safe. In fact the Sun is the only thing you can see through them.

I have two. The LS152THa and LS60THa from Lunt Solar Systems. These have hydrogen alpha filters and blocking filters built in. These make the photosphere invisible so we see the normally invisible chromosphere instead

I would also recommend imaging the Sun over direct observation. Placing a webcam in the optical path in place of an eyepiece. Thus eliminating any risk of damaging your eyes.

We've all done a bit of sun gazing, shifter, and watched a pretty sunset and sunrise. I can still read your inept posts without the need for spectacles. Heck, I'd be more at risk of going blind by mas...., never mind.

Does the flat earth society also recommend not staring at the moon, venus, mars, and Jupiter? It probably does, and again, the reason is obvious. If everybody did, the flat earth society would quickly cease to exist.
