You seemed to have missed my point.  Experiments shouldn't be required to establish that a barometer doesn't measure altitude...

Still learning how that complicated quote button works, eh? I'm sure you don't post this way to avoid quoting yourself and make it easier to ignore the points made and go off on tangents.  Your response here has nothing to do with what I said and quoted.

Your point seems to be that you are trying to reduce the entire discussion to semantics, which is always a terrible and boring dodge.

If you have a broader point to make on the subject of the thread you are posting in, feel free to make it.  Otherwise you could always start a new thread about the difference between 'measure' and 'infer' and 'calculate' if that's what you really want to talk about. :)
