I litterally have close to 20 kinds of edible and gourmet mushrooms at my house, dehydrated. One of them even cures the chicken pocks - herpes - or whatever bullshit scientist do this do that. But yeah, no bs, reportedly cures herpes - which supposedly has no cure.
It's called gypsy mushroom. Rozites caperata.
My personal thinking is that as an uncommon mushroom, and the nomeclature probably coming from the old world, this is a bunch of species commonly called Gypsy mushroom - all similar , like poplar trees and spruce, but will be further described to greater accuracy, probably by region, in the future. Some mushrooms are like that - thinking is there are 1500 identified mushrooms and 10 000 unidentified.
Reminds we of when i was a kid they said you only use 10 % of your brain, then in Uni they said you only use 10% of your DNA. now they're saying we only kknow ten % of mushrooms.
But anyway, you can make a really nice mushroom gravy with Morel mushrooms. In michigan, 400 000 people visit the state to pick these every year. But then again the internet says all kinds iof funnythings these days.
So because they are so precious, you use a can of agarics - button mushrooms (white mushrooms -similar to portabellos). But first you fry onions in butter, add cream and dill and mushrooms and maybe thicken - not sure - but that will top your your turkey and MP's like nothing you had all year.
