I think Wise is in Istanbul, 300+km from hardest hit Izmir. So hope he and his are ok. 7.0 is no trifle. 7.0 was the size of Loma Prieta in 89', epicenter Santa Cruz, 90km from San Francisco and it packed a wallop that far away.

Pez is in Greece I think, but I'm not sure his proximity to the epicenter. There's drone footage above some buildings in Turkey and photos from the area that definitely showcase the destructive force a big earthquake like that can deliver.

Pez always strikes me as an Athenian which is right across the Aegean from the epicenter. Scary.

Wow, hope Pez is alright.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Oh, I'm fine, I was thankfully far enough from the epicenter, which was between a Greek island and Turkey. Despite the distance, it was felt all the way over here, and it lasted for quite a long time. I actually didn't feel it because I was driving and listening to radio, and then suddenly the hosts shut up for a while and then there were like "is that an earthquake? It is still shaking...".

Turkey got the bulk of the damage. Lots of people died, hundreds of injuries, many buildings collapsed. Also a little tsunami happened. The Greek Island of Samos was the worst hit, but thankfully it is not densely populated enough for there to be many casualties. 2 people died, both teens who were killed by a wall that collapsed on top of them.

I am an Athenian but Athens is quite far from the epicenter. However, this was felt all over Greece. For us, it wasn't the worst earthquake in recent memory, but for Samos it was really bad.

Glad you're ok Pez. 7.0 is downright monstrous. No wonder it was felt far and wide throughout the region.

Hi Pez, very good to hear you are OK and that it wasn't too bad where you were at.

It's awful what happened to Turkey though. Like, seeing the footage was extremely sad...

I hope it at least brings us a bit closer. Greek-Turkish relations weren't too great recently... It's a big story and I do think most of the panic about it is scare mongering and I really don't believe anything serious will happen but I really hope someone doesn't make a really dumb move because I'm really not in the mood of getting drafted to kill wise.

That would be a good ad tbh.

If I was still I would have probably felt it, but I was in a highway driving pretty fast so I couldn't notice.

No I mean your post was, like, weird. First of all, you know that together with the Armenians, many Greeks were killed too as part of the same event right?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_genocide

My great grandparents came to Greece refugees fleeing from that. But that is not the issue here. I realize your post was supposed to be sarcastic but it came off weird.

I was actually referring to the recent tension and the mob of Turks in France looking for Armenians.

To my knowledge it’s a boarder dispute between Azerbaijan and Armenia which brought in their allies.

To my knowledge it’s a boarder dispute between Azerbaijan and Armenia which brought in their allies.
It is a dispute between Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh, a semi-autonomous state where the population is mostly Armenians. The conflict between these countries goes back and is tied to the Armenian genocide and all the other events around it. It also has to do with bad decisions taken after the USSR dissolved, the borders were not really distributed the best possible way. But the issue and the whole animosity between these countries is closely connected to their history and the Armenian genocide.
