At some point as a parent you lose control over your kids.  What is Joe supposed to do, ground a 50 year old?
Well, he didn't have to get him a ludicrously well paid job at a Ukrainian gas firm.

Didn't Hunter trade on his namesake to get that gig, like he had done before, rather than Joe actually "getting" him the job?

It's not what you know, it's who you know. That's how the world works

Seems weird that Biden gets shit for Hunter getting a job but those complainers had zero fucks to give when Trump literally handed out jobs to his own children and their partners even as those jobs were senior roles at the White House. I guess it all depends on who is on your 'team'.

I have no idea what you are talking about.  I haven't read anything anywhere that showed Joe Biden "getting" Hunters job.

Obviously he got the job because of his name, and the company wanted preferential treatment. But that all seems to have happened without Joe's input or assistance.

Companies hire children and relatives of influential people all the time, I don't agree with it but also don't agree with your claim that Joe Biden did anything at all here.  It certainly shows no evidence of him being a bad parent.

Well, OK.  Yeah, those guys were paying $50,000 a month for influence pedaling, but there seems little evidence any influence was actually pedaled their way.  Same for all the other enterprises Hunter embroiled himself in.    I suppose ultimately Hunter could be just a conman who never actually delivers anything useful.  Who knows though?  It's not like Joey  would do anything obvious.

While I'm sure they would have loved direct influence, I think their main goal was just recognition.
Having "US President's Son" on their board makes them sound really impressive to investors.  Really they paid $50k a month for name recognition.

Like if the NRA grabbed a Trump for their board of directors.  Even if it was just Eric.  Name brands make big money.

Day 2 of SCOTUS confirmation hearings.

These hearings are a total farce.  Democrats are all free tongue baths.  Republicans are just happy to make an ass out of themselves on camera.  I don't think I've heard her speak yet.  I don't even know her opinion on beer for hell sake.

Many people think politics doesn’t matter because there’s little hope of things getting substantially better.  They maybe half right, but IMO not enough people account for the risk of things getting very much worse.

Just my cheery thought of the day.

Exactly right. "My vote doesn't count for as much as I would like so I am going to choose to let others have total control instead."

You absolutely CAN change politics. You just aren't likely to change them as much as you want. Deal.

According to the Stanford–Binet Fifth Edition (SB5) classification, that would put Democrats in the 80-89 range, labeled “Below Average”.

Based upon a recent peer-reviewed study from a consortium of people with superior intelligence that I recently read, Republicans scored in the 40-54 range, labeled as “Moderately impaired or delayed”.

Yeah. Remeber the bombshell emails that never showed up?
I think they hooked on a laptop they got (illegally) and played it up.  Then Tuckerson went "oh... Never mind.  We won't show you these documents... Its not right..." Or something dismissive.

So the right wing buried it too.

It's not just supreme court hearings, it's pretty much any hearing in general.  It's hard to see what the point of congressional hearings are beyond dumb theatrics.

I have some similar feelings about court trials.  It would be much cleaner if the case played out in a separate room and the jury read the transcript.  No issues with how the defendant is dressed, no race, no emotions.  But maybe it's too much to ask that 12 people pretty much read a book.
