A little old but do we need any more proof Bill Gates is a POS? Working in cahoots with The Pentagon, he proposes unleashing genetically engineered mosquitoes into a poor (coloured) country using the CRISPR machine (which has been recognised as a weapon of mass destruction).

Their glossy 'brochure' does not make them believable. Why not unleash it in their own country otherwise?

Even if you're a fan of Bill Gates in the past surely this idea leaves an unsettling feeling in the hardest of fans. It is super unethical and insisted on a population which many either don't understand or don't want it.

This is only the start of CRISPR in action against a human populous. You can already see that they target the poor.

To hell with Bill Gates. He's really gone too far this time!  >:(

What total crap! Your hatred of Bill Gates is making you paranoid!

You ask "Why not unleash it in their own country?"
Possible the test would need to be done in a country with malaria mosquitoes. Did you consider that?

And where has the "CRISPR machine" been "been recognised as a weapon of mass destruction"?

It's unethical, no matter how you try and splice it (pun intended)

That simply question's it a queries whether it should be used in humans.

So you have no problem unleashing genetically modified animals into the wild?

People have been modifying animals for thousands of years.  GM is just a more direct way.

Then why single out Bill Gates?

CRISPR is a gene editing tool. It leaves permernant changes to the animal and future offspring. It is also pretty clumsy as in humans don't know the full extent or implications of what they edit out or paste in.

It is not some simple lab tool. You think because your hero Mr Gates funds it the Pentagon are going to he benevolent in its use against human populations?

The American government is the biggest threat to world security and the largest terrorist organisation. America first rhetoric bullshit and all.

Clearly the lead in the American water has dumbed you all right down. No wonder your so basic

Yeah, when we GE organisms the old fashioned way it's a slow process but nature still dictates whst is and isn't possible.

So we can breed a cute little dog or an aggressive one. We can make pretty flowers etc

CRISPR can do a lot more than nature would let happen even over thousands of generations. It's not a toy

The ability to frig up an animal and even a human has not been possible for 50 years.

Gene splicing dates back to the early 1970s.
An enormous breakthrough in GMO technology came in 1973, when Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen worked together to engineer the first successful genetically engineered (GE) organism [5]. The two scientists developed a method to very specifically cut out a gene from one organism and paste it into another. Using this method, they transferred a gene that encodes antibiotic resistance from one strain of bacteria into another, bestowing antibiotic resistance upon the recipient. One year later, Rudolf Jaenisch and Beatrice Mintz utilized a similar procedure in animals, introducing foreign DNA into mouse embryos [6].

Capitalism is the main reason why people starve. There is far more than enough food to go around

I have no problem with cultivation and selective breeding of crops over time (like how we came to have attractive and tasty fruit like our modern banana) but frankly, Monsanto can frig off and the world would frankly be healthier. We don't need them and they haven't 'saved' anyone

To the contrary, they have made your people specifically much sicker.

Frankly CRISPR tech can go to hell too.

Go to Mozambique, Zimbabwe ext. They have very low levels of trade, i.e. capitalism. These are super fertile countries, but people starve.
please explain how this is possible if capitalism causes people to starve.
BTW, when Zimbabwe had more capital, more trade, the people there did not starve, they exported food, now they mass import when their capitalist system collapsed.

CRISPR being a weapon of mass destruction and should never be used is the same as saying radiation is dangerous so we should not have x-ray machines.

Indeed, but the capitalism model relies on there being people that are poor - regardless of their work output

For example if the average wage was $1 million dollars - do you think you could still buy a 2L bottle of milk for $2? No. It would increase to a point where it's out of reach for some. It has to for it to work. That is the abhorrence of the model.

The problem with a lot of African countries is a corrupt power hungry government and personal greed.

X-rays are not experimental technology that forever changes ones DNA - not just for your life but every future generation proceeding it. It is a medical diagnostictool. It doesn't change you. You cant compare the 2.

You might think 'oh it's only being used on mosquitoes' but that's where it starts doesn't. Ask yourself, where will it end?

There are countries out there such as China that don't give 2 shits about ethics or morality. Whose to say they dont use this in secret? Do you think them an open and transparent country?

So yes. Label this device a weapon of mass destruction because that's what it is more than capable of. And perhaps that label ensures countries act responsibly and are obliged to document its use should they be using it.

An atomic bomb can be used to deflect or destroy incoming asteroids - they can be a tool for good purposes too. But they are still labelled as a WMD
